Aussies abroad 🌍🦘

I don't and imagine it makes a big difference since you can sleep. But surely the change of timezone makes a huge difference?

Crazy that we once managed to convince players to book their own ticket on the promise we would reimburse them
We've been business to London a couple of times on points and I can't emphasise enough the difference it makes. Unfortunately Qantas make it just about impossible to do that anymore. Bastards...

First world problem I guess,

I’ve flown between the UK and East Asia on work trips, and can tell you it significantly affects sleep and athletic performance for a week afterwards. Travelling to Australia must be even worse.
Going east hurts. West less so. Aus-Ger jetlag 5 or so days. Ger-Aus takes ages to wear off.

I guess the roos get first class each time?

I remember reading after we beat Uruguay in 2006 that their players were furious after learning they were flying economy back to Europe or South America. Insult after injury. Not that I cared...
If they fly 1st class they win the return leg imo given some of the mistakes they made

Not sure what they flew to come to Oz but our lot flew in a private jet with massages etc on board.

I suspect they flew business here but flew away econ after failing to make the WC finals.

the fa have a 25 million a year travel budget which is crazy but probably covering flights and massage tables

I don't understand why we can't split our squads. Euro based Socceroos to play the west Asian matches, and mostly A-League players called up for the east Asian matches. Makes it more workable for the euro players.
That's not a bad compromise. I wouldn't do it for the whole squad but if it got someone like Robertson over the line I would. It lets him balance his club commitments, and creates opportunity to build more depth for the squad.

I remember reading an article or seeing a video where I think Graham Arnold said that Hiddink demanded that FFA book all the business class seats from Montevideo to Sydney, even though the Socceroos were on a chartered Qantas jet, so that the Uruguayans couldn't get access to them and had to fly economy. And supposedly FFA did that.
