Aussies abroad šŸŒšŸ¦˜

I don’t get the hype of Metcalfe as a right wingback/winger, he never played there for Melb city where he was a box 2 box midfielder, what does he do did exactly apart from cutting inside on the right?

From what I’ve seen from him at Melb City he needs a player next to him that’s capable of playing of in between the lines to create like Berenguer so he can crash into the box, he needs a player like Hrustic, Luongo next to him, I remember when he played with Irvine at the Asian cup he looked ineffective as a No.8 so he needs to be with the right midfielder next to him so he can shine.
He's played both RWB and LWB for St Pauli. It's more his name is put there on a team sheet but he's able to move forward and inward as well so a lot of the time he's around the midfield area anyway. Given his good short passing and off the ball movement it creates a lot of new play sequences. It is contingent on having defensive support which St Pauli always managed.

The kid is 19... comparing him to a seasoned 32 yo pro who grew up playing in Scotland is insane. Toure is doing great but he's 21. Come back to me when Nestory is 21. People really wanna pick journeyman over our best talent for decades? We should be building the team around him.

I wasn't comparing them. I was just doing a quick rundown on who's scoring, who's not and the levels those various forwards are playing at.

That said in the National Team you have to pick your best team. There'd be a fair debate between those two as right forwards in Popovic's system.

I think Boyles form warrants selection. But i'd be bringing Irankunda on as an impact sub for him running at tired defenders.

I don't see a problem easing Irankunda into it while he continues to develop, but I reckon he needs to be in squads.

Kewell was also a lot more technically advamced than irankunda to be honest

I think irankunda has the capability to peak getting 5 to 6 good seasons in a mid table big 5 team in his prime, which is a huge step up on what we have produced but still below what we would like to produce

Hopefully im underestimating him

I mean to be fair Kewell would likely be in the top however many wingers ever to grace the Premier League!! He was that good!!

A 19 year old Kewell was just beginning to terrorise the EPL, imagine what he would have done in the Swiss league at the same age.

I think if Irankunda is given the right support and guidance he can be a very good player BUT he has light years to go before coming anywhere near Kewell's level.

I think we have a good chance of producing bresciano, emerton, grella lucas neill level players in the 2003-2008 age group but seriously doubt we have anyone viduka or kewell level

Crazy the level those two reached....

looks like brescia got a 4 point penalty so now the playoff match has to be rescheduled

On their day both players were world class, no other Aussie players can be categorised at that level.

I'd add Schwarzer and Craig Johnston to that list.

Few will agree with me but I'd also add Aaron Mooy (on his day). If you saw the match against France in Russia, 2018, Mooy was voted MOTM by the BBC and totally bossed the midfield against the likes of Kante and Pogba. His tackle on Griesmann that day (utterly brutal and just 15 metres from where I was sitting) was worth the price of admission. He went about his work so efficiently that people tend not to realise how good he was. Many Hudds fans say he was the greatest player ever to pull on their shirt.

I miss mooy I think looking back he was only with us a short time and he didn't get the send off he deserved

I guess we have a tricky decision

Do we play burgess at central cb with geria dropped for circati and degenek or someone else on the left?

Or do we shuffle burgess to lcb, have circati in the middle and geria on the right

I prefer the second option since i trust geria over degenek slightly more but that does mean having an inexperienced circati in the most important defensive position

I feel like Degenek just isn't playing otherwise why select him in the training camp. He must be fit enough for that.

I was doing the same pondering earlier today.

I go with the second option of Burgess, Circati and Geria. Circati will absolutely eat the responsibility up. I see a very good footballer we have here. Future leadership potential for sure. Giddy up Ale!

I Dont think we have ever had a 21 year old be 1st choice in the seri a when fit?

If he stays fit and works hard he could be the first goat in a position that isnt autofilled by a golden generation player

Mooy too at cam perhaps

Burgess (LCB) Circati (CB) Geria (RCB) all day long.
