Australian politics.

I remember reading a piece in the paper quite a few years ago, might have been 20 years ago about Australian Rules Football's global expansion plans.

The journalist writing the article suggested that AFL should re- jig the rules of their game so that they played the sport in a rectangular stadium. Apparently the cost of building large oval shaped cricket-like grounds in places like the US, Asia and mainland Europe would restrict the AFL's ability to expand into these territories....🤣

They could use existing rectangular stadiums to showcase AFL tonnew audiences and all of that...

I was never really sure if the guy was being serious.

But AFL has never changed it's rules to suit rectangular grounds and never expanded beyond Australia bar the odd amateur park competitions in the UK and places like that.

Surprised they haven’t come up with a slight rule tweak where they can’t use their hands, make the ball round, restrict the game to 11 players, make the goals smaller and then carry on like they invented it.

It's probably the only football code I cannot 'get'... it does absolutely nothing for me.

Rugby League and Union - fine
NFL - fine
Even Gaelic football is reasonably watchable.

Albo just did a phone call with the Palestinian Authority apparently. Recognition of Palestine in a very subtle way it seems.
