Australian transfers 25-26 Summer

He's had a few solid stints but he's become more of a player who comes in and does an absolute job but for the club to change coaches or look for someone with a 4 year outlook. Not a bad thing but he's been something of the brilliant substitute teacher.

This is the case at Copenhagen and Lens at least. Rome and the Spanish clubs were poor choices in hindsight with the latter being a cultural piss take. The role was clear at Rome but the club was in terrible shape while there.

Could end up anywhere now.
Where he ends up who knows, I can see him trying a different continent like Asia or even the MLS as they may give him more of a chance of being the No.1.

It would seem that this problem of perceived lack of height has pursued Matty and will pursue Niz their whole careers. It would be great if that weren't the case, but life's not like that :(.

All a myth as Sanchez is so tall and still can't reach the reachables. Most balls that go beyond Maty would require him to have 2 metre arms.

Didn't read article but Slater going on about how to stop the drain of talent from the A League. Debate online that they'll only improve abroad while others are duly noting the lack of decent money made in transfer fees as they're criminally undervalued.

I think the low fee is a great attraction but a bad thing for the clubs. Slap an English flag on their profiles and it's 4m and not 400k. Matthews has as much potential as a 4m rated UK CB.

If they cost more would they be getting the transfers? I doubt it. We'd have a very strong AL or guys moving to Asia instead.

I think that's a fair assessment. Clubs do their research but a higher price may scare them off as the A League still may be seen as an anchor. The low fees offer very little risk to the wealthy European buyer.

The league is in a worse financial position now compared to 7 or 8 years ago. But I don't think that is reason we are seeing the influx of transfer fees. Would clubs in 2016 been turning down a million for a young player? I think it is just there weren't really the offers coming in? The only one which comes to mind is I think MV turned down an offer for Milligan at one point. But maybe I am just not remembering others.

the clubs need to get better at getting higher fees that's true

The eredivisie sold 43 players in 23/24 and lost about twice that many in free transfers. I don't think we have even caught up to that level of movement
