Australian transfers 25-26 Summer

3 African players though.... but your false point still stands I suppose? Or are you changing it again?
No my point is how many Egyptians playing in the top leagues of Europe in 2004, now suddenly 2 of the best players are Egyptians in the biggest league in the world. There is even a Georgian there somewhere, Imagine Georgia beating Greece in 2004, unheard of.
Changing world.

Sure, keep repeating the same old tired excuses... Estonia and Uzbekistan must be developmental and physical powerhouses...

Bozza encapsulates the essence I think:

"The first year of the Premier League (1992), there were 13 foreigners," Bosnich told WWOS.

"I know because I was one of these players. Now there are 400 and something, including managers. So it goes to all parts of the world and the competition is fierce.

I got chatgpt to do some numbers.

I think it would be fair to say some of the mid tier gg guys would have been in the championship today. the epl taps into much more of the world talent than ever before, increasing competition, reducing opportunities for all but the very best.

This is tricky for us because it is the top 5 league with the least cultural barriers for most Australian players.

It is a promising cohort who are overseas now. With so many in the championship I hope a few might be able to make the step up at some point. I think if we had this group 25 years ago, many of them might have gone directly into the epl.

JPL is a South East Queensland private league being the brainchild of the latest podcast guest. It is not sanctioned by FA, to my knowledge. You could arguably class it as a renegade league.

It will not be a replacement for any of the other things you have mentioned
True but I believe it is planned to be a national league

Game I'm watching from 2002-2003
Today there is just 3.75 english players per starting xi, back then this game had 5. Certainly a difference, but most of the trend toward foreigners had already occurred by the time the gg came through

Can you do mid 2000s as thats when most were playing (emertons first season for example was 03-04. Maybe do 06/07)

I would argue with the amount of boys in the CHP we should begin to see more aussies regularly in the Prem, whether their club can stay there is another thing. It is also quite difficult to get signed to EPL from CHP you really need to stand out alot.

There is a drop in home grown player by another 6% and increase in other nats by 4%. But it definitely slowed. The reduction in British Isle player is notable as well, given the proximity.
yeah reduction of scots/irish players was definitely something I noticed. Probably a quarter to a third of a league difference now and then. So a 17th best epl team is probably equal in achievement to a 8th ranked championship team. But I think maybe anything over 14th best epl team in the mid 00s is a formidable achievement by our standards

I would think the older guys on this list are out.

McGree probably would have had an opportunity if he could stay on the park. Souttar's chance may have come and gone. His playing time has probably been as bad a McGree's. In theory if either of them can stay on the pitch they are a chance.

That leaves the 11 younger guys (chatgpt had a much harder time finding current aus championship players than doing the EPL analysis).
If we got three of these guys I think it would be a success. My picks Segacic, Irankunda and Matthews

Surprisingly it has been pretty stable that a quarter of players that have a 25 game season before they turn 24 play regularly at a higher level
