It was a good win hd. I agree with you Kikau's sb was a rort and sutton is still a low life pos, the boys played hard in the second half and were too strong for the eels. Go the Dogs.

I am glad that Turpin may be getting another chance against the Rabbits.

He didn't look good in the Fins game, but very few of our players did.

We have 4 out, Souths have Latrell out.

Sides look pretty evenly matched, but we might have a slight edge.

We need to repeat our effort against the Eels.

Galvin is even more likely to win the game for us, he is the class half and I think Reed is a better hooker.

My run down on players from being at the game.

Woods. Raw but looks the goods. Runs similar shape to Cleary like most young halves. Has put on some size. Will play first grade soon.

Galvin. Potentially a rep footy player. Go’s deep into the line. Runs great shape and straightens the line better than most. And he is gifted with talent.

From the stats Woods did most of the kicking in the second half. I think Woods has a bit of pace, but kicking game seems to be his strength.

Galvin even better than I expected. Parra fought hard and the game was tight Galvin came on for the last 23 minutes and we scored 3 trys. He was involved in 2 of them.

Parra were running low on fuel, but our attack looked a lot more dangerous with Galvin on the field.

I'll be surprised if we have Mann, Hayward, Galvin, Sexton and Marhoney all in the side for the semis.

But who knows what could happen with injury and suspension? Now we can lose any one of those guys or even Burto, and we can still put a good side on the paddock.

Reserve grade halves interesting. Last week Woods and Hutch, this week O'Neill and Tia. We rarely get info on lower grade injuries, but sometimes players seem to just be rested.

Overall we are in great shape, I'm getting more optimistic. But there are no easy games especially with players out for SOO.

Sitili T not listed in any grade.

We may have taken advantage of the long suspension to sort out an injury.

Underhill probably injured.

With a few players injured and 4 on SOO duty we still have some competition for spots in the forwards. Very different to last season.

Can anyone tell me what the go is with byes. Some teams have had 2 some 1 and the faiders are yet to have one. One really cocked up system.
All i can say is that by end of regular season, all teams will have had 3 byes each.

I think Woods is in the under 19’s origin team fir NSW

When they add 2 new teams that is the opportunity to sort it out.

Every team should get a bye in the first 10 rounds so 18-19 byes.

1 team per week is 10, they need to drop 4 additional games, for 8 more byes. 1 game in weeks 6-10 same number of games per week as now.

The 19th team should get a bye in week 11.

Prioritise teams travelling especially to Perth for byes, give Perth a block of 4 home / away games and a bye before the start of some blocks.

More byes earlier might mean one extra game some weeks during origin. Match Origin 1 and magic round with a block of Perth away games.

More work, but not impossible.

A team of NRL staff should review and approve the draw.

The game is going great, but we can make it better.

If necessary give teams 4 byes per season and start 1 week earlier. A few additional byes after the origin period can help teams recover.

Make byes worth 1 comp table point.

When we add another team for a 20 team comp just drop 1 game per week 2 teams get a bye each week, and all teams have had a bye after round 10.

Just split the rest of the byes over the origin period.

IMO the 20th team should be in NZ.

Starting the comp a week early, we could have a magic round like concept in NZ for teams that don't go to Vegas.

Perhaps split over 2 venues. The weather should be cooler.

Good way to launch the season. The 2 NZ teams could play each other as a highlight for the locals.

Perth Bears will need to play every second week in Perth for the growth of the game. Too long between could hurt their fan base drastically.

I have been critical of Sexton in the past, but I was very happy with all aspects of his performance against Parra.

He definitely plays better when he gets more involved. Having >50% posession helps.

Surely he has done enough to earn and NRL contract for 2026 somewhere.

Marhoney also was a lot better, the presence of Galvin and/or playing for a contract may have been factors.

Shows how clueless the media is about what motivates players.

Including Galvin that is the best combined performance from our spine that I can remember, both individually and collectively.

I hope that we can maintain that standard and build on it.

Overall it is slightly surprising that we didn't beat Parra by more.

We were getting on top of them but for some reason try's were not coming easy until Galvin came on. You could just see the whole backline was settled..
With Presto coming back and jSalmon as well to come back I think you're right from your previous comments any injuries we still have good players to cover the only player I think we do need to win the comp and to be on fire is Critter , him and Galvin if they can get ia combination play together that would be a force to be reckon with .
Hopefully Reed and Sexy are both somewhere in the team during the finals and if by chance the doggies win the comp maybe one of them could be 18th man. I'm sure the 18th man still gets a premiership ring..

If we can finish top 4, get a home semi and a big crowd, we are halfway there.

The players definitely perform better in front of a big crowd.

Burto was brilliant last game, the type of performance that can help win a semi.

King, Kiraz and Tracey are also important. One out of Kiks or Preston is essential. In addition to Critter and Galvin.

So 6-7 essential players we can replace most of the others with a player good enough to win the comp.

As a smokey, I have noticed that Spinks scores a lot of trys in reserve grade. If we had injuries in the backrow, he might get a shot.

Top two would be better. And from our season so far we should be pushing for a minor premiership. First or second is fine with me. 😂

We gave great depth. But gave lacked the attacking game to really make a statement this year. I think Galvin and Critta gives us that. Makes our right side so much more dangerous.

I think top two is not out of the question. I reckon the only team that can stuff us up for the premiership honestly is Melbourne still remember 2012. We did so well towards the end of that year only to be knocked out by those buggers in the grand final . I'm still a bit worried about them if we face them in them in the grand final Bellamy always got something up his sleeve . Hopefully Cirro is the master this time with plan B , Hasler had no Plan B that night.

We were poor against Melbourne that year. I was at that GF. Slater hitting the ball after JMoz touched it cost us the game. We score there and we open them up. Smith, Cronk and Slater were just too good.

Storms defence beat us. Desperation and constantly offside. Great coaching by Bellamy.

This year we aren’t as strong as that year. But we potentially can be. The defence is there. It’s more about our attack. If Galvin can start racking up the line breaks and assists we will be much stronger.

But beating Melbourne will be hard. And we most likely will have to beat them somewhere in the finals.

I am not sure that the Storm are the major threat.

It is mandatory to defend well and have a low error rate against the Storm and Broncos. But get both into a grind and they might not go the distance.

Raiders, Fins and Warriors are plenty of threat.

The trick for us will be to determine our best 17 and build combinations.

I would add Preston and Hughes to the 17 that played the Eels, probably leaving out Hopoi and Marhoney or Sexton.

I like the idea of Marhoney or Sexton being 18th man.

Wing I would be tempted to replace Montoya with Sua.

Salmon might be in the mix, especially if Hayward plays hooker.

Injuries might impact on our top 17 and they also might for the other contenders.

Lots of aspects of our attack were very good against the Eels and the defence was generally very good.

I'll be more confident if we see more of the same against Souths.
