Damn only a draw for Namibia against Equatorial Guinea keeping them a point off Tunisia. Still a lot of interesting games today with lots of jostling for position.

Wow Nigeria have conceded late at home to Zimbabwe for scores to be level while RSA are 2:0 ahead against Benin denting the latter's spot. Rwanda stuffing up in same group level with Lesotho.

Nigeria are in deep shit. Egypt should walk group A. Group D is tight with DR Congo and Senegal. South Africa should win group C from here with Nigeria surely second but Benin are hanging around. Group D will come down to Cape Verde and Cameroon. Group E is Morocco's. Group F is exciting with Ivory Coast being stalked by Gabon. Algeria should win group H with Mozambique in 2nd. Tunisia going fine 3 points against Equatorial Guinea. Comoros only 3 points behind Ghana in a massive effort.

I think there should have been some more 2 leg intercontinental playoffs. UEFA against someone else home and away. It has just occurred to me that the seeded sides will be awaiting their opponent in the respective 2 finals of the Intercontinental playoffs.

Yep - should Nigeria get to the intercontinental playoffs, they should be given a seeded spot from what I see.

Heck, for comparisons sake, I think I worked out a while back even if Australia got stuck down the Intercontinental Playoff route, we'd be seeded as well - so the bar is pretty low. Would expect it to be the African and South American teams.

Thankfully Australia ranks highly. I really hope we see something mental where Nigeria, Cameroon, Senegal and Algeria finish second in their groups. It's only the best 4 2nd placed teams also from 6 groups.

At the moment, using the current standings, Cameroon and Senegal are in the playoffs.

I think you're right about Nigeria being in serious trouble though: Only four games left, and the runner up from their group at the moment is ranked last (And this includes Morocco's group that has has Eritrea pulled out, and thus played one less game). Their two home games against Benin and Rwanda (2nd and 3rd in their group) are absolute must wins.

South Africa must not stuff this up surely. Nigeria go there in September so we'll know a lot after that. I yhink Nigerian will win that game but South Africa can likely win here and draw there and be OK.

Benin started oddly beating Nigeria but drawing with a low team. CAF really is brutal.
