Keeping to the topic of this thread - Trump - just to ensure you all are up to speed on the details:
The 34 felonies were actually 34 separate instalment-payments for hush money.
Usually, such actions are regarded as misdemeanours. You do realise, don't you, that people usually don't go to jail for paying hush money to women.
In order for the New York D.A. to convert them from misdemeanours to felonies, he had to link the actions to some other crime.
The sad thing is -- which you won't hear on Mainstream Media, but only in conservative media -- is that neither New York judge Merchan nor Attorney General Alvin Bragg - they did not define what that crime was. This has caused lawyers to deem the New York trial as -- apologies to Aussies - as a kangaroo court, because if violates the basic principle of justice: that to charge a person, you have to inform them of the crime they are alleged to have committed. This didn't happen in the sham trial in NY.
The Mainstream Media has milked this to slur Trump as a felon, but it has been always the probable outcome that the appeals court would overturn this, because of the lack of defining what the crime was, which was linked to the 34 acts of hush-money payments.
The average bloke doesn't care for this. All they see is the Media saying Trump was convicted of 34 felonies, and they are ready to throw stones. This is why I perceive that the current generation of Australians are not as fair-minded and just, compared to people of former generations of Australians.
