I didn't like Trump's handling of the Ukraine matter.

I look at history. When dealing with belligerents like Putin, it's similar to Germany in 1918 after WW2 - seventeen years later in 1935 the monster comes back to war with you.

Trump can't see beyond Putin not again attacking Ukraine within Trump's last 4 year term. Trump is not thinking of Russia's dominance in the next 10-20 years.

Also, what Trump proved is that there is zero chance that the U.S. will come to the aid of Taiwan [or Australia].

And in the even China were to get into a shooting war with Australia, the U.S. cavalry are not coming to our aid.

Me thinks that a small, middle military power like Australia - the only way we can remain sovereign over a hundred years is to have a nuclear arsenal with nuclear submarines. THE BIG LESSON from this whole episode is that Ukraine, back in 1996, Ukraine gave up its nuclear arsenal in exchange for Bill Clinton's promise to protect them. Twenty seven years later, Russia attacked them. What does Trump think is going to happen in 27 years time after he is long gone? I'll probably still be around to see how all this plays out.
