Crowds are up - not astronomically - still smaller crowds than the smaller CCM who have had a poor season and whose crowds are down. Stanton leaving is a mistake!!

42 more people have attended CCM games that NEW games. CCM have won the last two championships.

16% increase in this current market is a great result.

I'm bullish on Newcastle as a club.

With a hard cap it might be a start, I feel the way the aleague clubs have run they tried to run it like a 5 star Michelin restaurant rather than an average restaurant because they haven’t thought about running the league within its own means.

Better to spend with you have rather than spend what you think you have.

CCM team and academy has been gutted for two seasons in a row. But the real reason I don't think Newcastle is on the rise is the parting of the ways with Stanton and the rumours that many of their more exciting players may be going as well. Let's see who is there at the beginning of next season.

I may be wrong but I get the feeling that both CCM and the Jets will both struggle next season.

I wouldn't at all be surprised if we see the opposite. Salary cap is getting reduced next season, which probably won't effect clubs like CCM and Jets in the same way it will effect clubs like MC, MV and SFC. It will bring those bigger clubs down closer to the level CCM and Jets are at now.
 
Well well. Hope this isn't one for the old "if it looks too good to be true, it generally is" box of tricks.
 
I just hope they done their due diligence without rushing getting in new owners, this is always an important step.

one wonders IF/when this occurred might I add.
I have just gone through one that took months and it sure wouldn't have been as complicated or $$$ value I expect.
We went over 200 page docs, dot the i's cross the t's, question this that through our lawyers.
Maybe it was worth more than WU possibly but it isn't a 1wk process thats for sure.
Be interesting to know how long this went for but will never know.

The bigger clubs will concentrate on youth - which means the Jets and CCM won't have a point of difference to offer more likely game time.
 
So just to confirm this group is dodgy so does that mean:

If apl accept them we're stuck with a group that doesn't really care about a football team

But then if the apl reject them the club is finished?

I think to be honest the apl should just take someone dodgy

as the old saying goes...beggers can't be choosers

Im guessing they still have debt from running other clubs and the silverlake money so they are just in too poor a position to take over the club for a year waiting for a buyer

It also would be a tough club to sell without the property as well because it is in a sparsely populated area with a quarter built stadium on ground they don't own

Just feels like we're at the end of the road if the cap is lowered, we can't get decent buyers and we're stuck with the bloody bye round for another season not much to be positive about

yeah its a bit of a malaise and it does feel like the end of an era.
We already have had the transition to a development leaague rather than being a "destination league" with average salaries below league 1.
The admission that we are a development league though is, in a sense, the end of the a league era since it undermines one of the core ideological revolutions that was the a league.

I just hope the clubs survive whatever transitions happen in how we run things
