G&G FC Pod: #15 - What Scouts Really Think of Aussie Players (feat. Petar Petrov & AusFootHQ)

Watched the Podcast today and thought it was good. Peter was an excellent guest. Don't get to watch as much A-League as I used to, so it's interesting to see the number of names of people getting transfers t I Europe that I know little of. Hoping that I will get the opportunity to see Portsmouth on free to air TV. Is there any likelihood of that?

Very unlikely to see the championship on free to air

Streaming services and piracy are options

Most championship clubs also have a private streaming service

That was another fantastic listen. I enjoyed the update from AusHQ. It would be good to get an end of transfer period review.

Petar was great value with some really interesting insights. My favourite observation was around the need for longer contracts and a transfer system. To get more for our players they need longer contracts. Longer contracts are more risky without a transfer system. The lack of a transfer system discourages this. That's concerning because its quite possibly the financial saviour of the game.

His observation on the tactical nous of the league made me laugh. We know the league is very open and transitional. It was interesting that was so unique and was what he found entertaining.

This is probably an unpopular opinion but I wonder if that's in part influenced by other codes. They're also pretty free flowing and blow-for-blow. It's how we like sport, aggressive offensively. Like playing Warner at opener.

There's the potential national football identity in that. Resolute in defense, aggressive in transition and on the counter.

A great listen.

one thing that definitely comes from other codes is pressuring the ref to make the game flow

some pretty blatant fouls get let go a lot haha
