Nice pod and great subject matter and guest mate... He danced around the financials and the bid like a seasoned pollie so not sure what to make of it... He made the "rebirth" of Kingsway sound very similar to a club like Avondale..... .. good luck to them.

Another great pod.

Interesting to hear his thoughts about having all states represented in the NST. I guess that means he's anti pro/rel? I'm unsure how the two can exist together.

Some people have the idea of replacing the bottom team with the top team from the same state. Kinda awful idea imo. That team moving up could be the 8th best of the 8 NPL premiers! And God knows where they would be ranked amongst all the NPL teams. Would be shite.

Having all states represented could only mean another closed tier, I think. Although, they could still be linked to the top tier. It's a bugger because I can see the benefits of both representation AND an open pyramid, but can't see how we have both without it being a joke of a comp.

TBF though, until such time that a national 3rd tier is introduced how else would you determine it❓

I wouldn't. Like I said, it would be a laughing stock. You can't have the 8th (or worse if including all NPL clubs) ranked team being promoted.

It's either a closed tier with all state representation, or it's an open pyramid and you get what you get.

For me it really is simple.. you have an X year plan.

A league drops to 10 immediately.

Championship h&a goes to 10 with 2 least viable a league clubs or those needing a "respite"

Championship 2 as champions league format is the tier between the championship and NPL only winners!

League cup for for h&a shortages and tv rights deal/saturation.

Promotion to start after 2nd or 3rd year to establish and level out fields.

Playoff one spot aleague with championship for promotion (preferrably the winner of championship h&a not via a finals series although that may mean more but that is a finer point that can be worked out).

Sell it as the Great re establishment of football.
