Another great podcast... well done team... Kudos to Alex and Grazor asking some well thought through questions, Dave seems a lovely bloke but certainly danced around some of the answers :)

BTW, damn you all... ive become a "podcast" person on my drive home from work.... wtf, when did THAT happen?

I would have liked a clearer response to the questions around how the club went from 50 junior players to over 500 for example .. at least a bit more than "we had a strategy and good people involved" which seemed to be the answer to every question...

Dave is very keen to paint Preston as a progressive club and nothing but respect for him, but to claim that overhauling the club by 80% of the playing roster each season is unrelated to salary being offered by predominately ethnic sponsors seems a little disingenuous to me... Grahame's question around what the future holds for Preston's 5 year plan, would they consider offering fee- free junior academies for example was met with silence and more platitudes around new facilities paid for by local (and federal interestingly) govmnt AND the whole repeated "we surrounded ourselves with the right people".

Players may very well be attracted to playing in front of thousands of passionate fans (as opposed to the 100 or so he so dismissively attributes to A league clubs) but Im not sure ALL of his roster would have appreciated being called Turks last Friday ?

I really hope David addresses this. Such vile chants were really uncalled for and spoiled an otherwise great night. I also noticed similar vile chanting the week before against Heidelberg. This did not occur in last years cup tie so i hope Preston arent bringing undesirables back into the fold. Either way David needs to nip this in the bud otherwise Prestons good work will be undone very quickly. I expected a ground marshall or someone to go over there and tell them to zip but sadly never happened.

if they want to be the genuine flagship club outside the A league this cant be happening, they need to lead by eg. Whilst our supporters are happy to let it slide they wouldnt want to be getting themselves into a pickle with dandy thunder or knights fans. Everyone is watching Preston now, they cant fcuk it up for the rest of us.

I agree. There was a call out for no ethnic flags which our side respected of course and yet there were plenty of ancient Greek flags AND Northern Macedonian flags on the other side???? Being called a Turk didn't bother me, its been done to death be every club and their dogs for decades as if it is some sort of hurtful slur .. I mean the Knights fans used to chant "Id rather fuck an abo than a Greek" as recently as 4-5 years ago .... but I agree, with growing interest and a push to get more bums on seats you are going to get an incident happening if they don't nip it in the bud... No issue with them being proud of what they were told is their history but no need to be offensive to others while doing it...

I only noticed one dude lose his shit over it, and to be honest none of the guys I was with had ever seen him at a South game before so probably just a blow in for the "event" but all it takes is one ultra nationalistic effnik crusader to wreck EVERYTHING ....

The chant itself didnt bother me either, its childish, but if we are going to make a serious run at making a national 2nd tier work this cant be happening. At some point they're gonna have to decide which direction they want to go in. David is a smart bloke, by all accounts a good bloke, lets hope he doesnt get overpowered by those trying to send the club back to the dark ages.
