I doubt I'd be good at this and so I am looking for someone who can do a weekly Aussies abroad/socceroos/matildas podcast. If you were thinking about starting a podcast and wanted a platform please reach out. You need a good commentator voice, and be entertaining unlike watching the Socceroos. If you have commentated football matches in the past then you'd be a good candidate.

Hey, I'd be interested in doing the Aussies abroad/Socceroos/Matildas podcast. I have experience covering general Australian sport including Socceroos and Matildas on radio, but haven't commentated on football matches in the past though.

I'd be happy to put my hand up to be part of the team. I have 10 years experience in Journalism. Covered A-league, EPL, World Cups etc.

Not sure if being based in Brisbane would be an issue.

I'd be happy to help, not sure if being based in England would be an issue (although it lets me watch more games)

Lupi has a good knowledge of the Scottish League's where most of the Australians play these days.

Do you already have an idea on the structure of the podcast or are you open to putting forward of ideas?

Why don't you guys try and stand out from the crowd a little and go a bit retro? Theres a whole bunch of "podcasters" pushing the barrow online, go old school, maybe publish a fanzine or even a re-invented an Australian magazine, that might be fun...

This would require way too much time and investment. Writing is a bit more time consuming, particularly when you have to spend time designing the pages and all.

I see your point though. It's why i asked if ideas are open because I was thinking today that you could have 2 podcasts. 1 which discusses the football on the pitch in the Socceroos, Matildas, A-league etc.

The 2nd podcast could be a bit different in the sense that you maybe do an interview with a player, but you ask them a little more unconventional. For example, you are interviewing Barbieri and you ask her about her first Matildas appearance. Tell us about what her day was like. The motions and experiences she went through on that day. Tell the story of the kit she wore. Conversations she might have had that stand out. Opposition player she swapped shirt with etc etc. Can also make those podcasts things like, "Ranking the top 10 A-league kits of all time", "this player or that player", "Talk us through your first professional contract" etc (I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of getting these ideas from the Fozcast, but just making it Aus specific)

Open to ideas.

At this point however I’d like a panel of 3 or more people who can discuss the latest topics. Keeping everything short and concise. Prefer to aim the podcast length at around 30 minutes.

Topics such as “Who is the #1 striker for Australia?”
“How has Tony Popavic performed so far? (Team selections, performances, is he the right man?)”
“How do we currently feel about player x (Behich, Miller, Duke, Mabil, Boyle etc.)"
“Should Irankunda be in the squad?”

Pick 1 or 2 topics for above then do the same for Matilda’s, Aleague, NPL. That was my idea but yeah as I said I am open to other ideas

We could have a section called 'Letters from Lupi' and 'Johnny Smith's corner of wisdom'

I'd be more than happy to sit down and come up with ideas and a game plan. I think this is your forum and your idea, so you should remain the head, but if you would like a working team, I'd be happy to assist.

With all respect I think mono is right there's heaps of podcasts that cover the game. If we did a podcast it could include the forum so it can differ a bit and just be a bit more interactive

I guess we do have a different flavour since we are less a league focused on this forum, as much as many of us love the a league.

Soccerwhos covers oasussies but they are the only ones

Cheers MCG, yeah thats sort of what I was thinking.... There are heaps of podcasts out there with a similar feel/flavour. To get any cut through it has to be pretty unique...

Yeah I know, I was just spit-balling ideas to be honest.... Personally Im not a "podcast" consumer, just find the idea of 2-3 people talking at me for 1-2 hours sort of thing tedious....

We have quite a diverse range of opinions and likes on this forum, I reckon it would be entertaining to showcase that somehow???

I believe we can beat the competition.
