John Aloisi on youngsters going to europe

I think at the bottom end they do, but not at the top end.

ACT for example, since 2019 when it was introduced (and I’m going to link Riverina and Yoogali as one club for this example), only twice out of the 5 seasons with P/R has a club relegated from the NPL been able to get promoted back to the NPL. Granted, the fifth is starting their quest to get promoted next season, so that’s still only a 50% strike rate.
wouldn't that be circumstantial evidence that the league as a whole is getting stronger if weaker teams are getting relegated and struggling to get back up?

Yeah the bid from Team Tasmania was actually from South Hobart. I still remember the SEN report that said the team was all but in the NST. Not sure what changed there.

Perth to Sydney in over 4 hours. The longest trip in Tassie might be Devonport - Hobart? That's 3 hours, luxury haha!
Our concept of distance in Tas, is different from other parts of Aus!

Maybe - it's the end of the week, my analysis skills may not be top notch 🤪

But kind of yes, that is what I was saying. The bottom end of the league is getting stronger IMO, but not so much the top end, evidenced by someone (I can't be bothered going back a page to see who said it) saying that ACT is still behind TAS when it comes to Australia Cup performance. The same 4 teams have been essentially fighting for the league since P/R came in here, yet the lower half of the table has been a merry go round.

Many of us have for years but we are shouted down even from devoted supporters of game here.
Typical excuses - the ethnics, the NSL etcetc
Such closed minds fixed on a dream that isn’t right for the game period.
Oh I luv AL believe me it’s better than anything before and I hope one day things improve and we get P/R - what a load of rot you are part of the problem as well !
Sorry fellas
Fuck me. I think Liverpool gone to the top of table& 12 pts clear of Man City has made you all dizzy.

I go to A-League games every week, I've yet to talk to one person who doesn't want P/R & everyone thinks that the APL admin has made & continue to make lots of bad bad decisions.
We keep coming back for the football, like when FIFA gave the World cup to Qatar, what a load of Bullshit, but when the football started I watched & was enthralled with the football.
My mates at the A-League include people from multi cultured backgrounds Croats, Italians, Aussies, English, Greeks & yes the lone Portuguese, so ethnics & NSL aren't discussed.
We all love football but agree the APL admin is extremely poorly run.
As Midfielder says, if the APL taps into the player base & runs the competition well, we could easily be averaging 20K a game & be very happy.
We are currently averaging 10k a game on a oily rag & so many poor decisions that I even sometimes doubt why am I doing this, but then I remember the football.

Exactly mate bang on

just got online due to my nose bleed heights :) so hadn't seen what you edited robbos though no matter.
We here and your circle of mixed ethnic background mates like mine are minimal % it seems re P/R and the game outlook.
If you've ever done a brief review over at that reddit hive cess pool all there is negative and distain of the long time clubs below and majority want nothing to change but the grasping hope AL grows as the closed up business it is.
It shouldn't matter all the wrongs the APL have/are doing on the oily rag for correct all that should matter to supporters is going to games therefore it should have that dream 20k you say as such.
Arn't some saying here its so great all these young un's given a go due to the restraints, why arn't the crowds bigger x each and every business.
MCG's richest city still struggle after all these years outnumbering the sea gulls on average.
MV the Big club struggling to entice back their numbers for as you say its about the football.
Anyway you see it your way you know I have mine, all due respect hitting the nerves..

Lfc we love the game and we disagree with the suits. Like you blokes you can't identify with the a league we can't identify with the npl

suits are a problem either side of the fence (talking APL/FA) and no matter the sport or business.
Nothing new.
Trouble is 2 different bodies is never good and for any sport throw in business corporations - 1 goes one way the other another, lacks synergies unless the main body makes sure in the background there is cohesion.
Imagine swimming or cricket or any other code having 2 pathways that limits/constraints countless normal practise's that occur under 1 rule and fosters from Jnr's upwards.

MCG do you have a grip about business models and how to grow a code.
The small entitiy we are and geography challengers makes this un sustainable long term, thats what to identify and understand and where i come from.
I really shouldn't care but the minnow we are our current situation a game/code is weak.

Cricket does mate .... Big bash and ..... well... cricket.

Its run/under CA MSC the regular governing body of the game/code, not a separate entity like APL is to the FA.
Thats my point, 1 body, 1 ruler.

Cricket Australia (CA) is the governing body for the Big Bash League (BBL). CA is the national governing body for cricket in Australia, and is responsible for administering the game at all levels.

I don't know anything.

If you ask me though first we need to get a domestic transfer system so npl earns money for selling players. Then they need to try set up on and r somehow

See again you are going on about the problems of the A-League. I agree with it all, there are so many problems do not know where to look.
I don't see a lot posters raving on about the success of the A-league, it's abject failure, but it's still running & its football & I like my football.
It needs an overhaul. But I still go to the football.

oh thanks for the slap even though we have the forum for open discussions depending what is said I suppose.

I listened to the whole podcast and the point that I’ve taken away from it the most is for players that go over it’s not so much the technical quality or the physical capabilities I think it’s the mentality that separates players making overseas or not.
I can’t imagine how tough you have to be like JA to go over at 17 and go through the whole grind and came out of it on the other side to have the great career has had it’s a great lesson for the young players when trying to have a career overseas.

Which got me thinking given how cut throat it is over there it’s important the development continues with good mentorship, it would be nice if the GG could do this for next gen and give their advice in what they need to make it with some of mentorship program maybe set up by the FA?

I also agree with the sentiment that adding more games, teams and eventual pro/rel system could only help the environment in preparing for the rigours of overseas environments as well.

However it’s enlightening to see so many young players play in the a-league we should not shy being a league for giving opportunities to young players and selling them off which has tangible benefits on and off the field.
I saw a tweet today that said the a-league is the second best league in the world for giving opportunities to young players 21 and under and long it may continue!

Thats not a bad idea rgarding mentorship program.

While I agree its great that the Aleague is giving opps to young footballers, it would be more gratifying if it was spread out over double or triple the amount of teams and NOT only out of necessity.

Of course I’m deferring to John Aloisi’s knowledge as a pro in the four countries he played in in UEFA.

However, 46 games in the Championship is too many. Many stars in club football are too worn out to perform in Euro Champs and World Cups.

The Dutch Eredivisie play 34 games in a season. 8 more than the AL.
