Lion City Sailors Vs Sydney FC

Sydney looked very aimless out there, a lot of possession but had little clue how to break them down and get a clear shot on target.

The only time they did was when Segecic came on a had a couple of shots but outside of they created very little which is a big concern going into the second leg next week.

Lion City were clinical on the counter and got some good players.

lets hope the conditions played a big role because it was indeed very poor

any word on Alex Grant who was missing today?

Funny the first 10/15 looked they were goi g to be all over them…..then it just vanished.
Aimless about sums it up remainder of the game.
Most times looked like they playing like at training silly close one touch but getting no where - over played it.
Hardly any decent shots at goal but for segacic efforts.
Costa played a couple nice balls behind for nothing g to come of them.
Lame considering the importance of the leg.
That second goal so well hit but from that angle woeful keeping let alone the defense.

Redmayne had a few poor games, but is he really worse than devenish meares?

Yeah I saw the start and it just looked like Sydney would run away with it then switched off after 15

I can't say tbh, history/experience backs wiggleman but what I've seen of Devenish isn't much to go on about.
He pulled off a couple of other lucky saves that didn't look convincing just sheer luck his body was in the way or that the forwards execution wasn't good enough.
Rhyan Grant, ok a long time stalwart but his persistant venting to the ref is painful viewing and not inspiring.
Get on with the job mate and lead by example.
I see supporters are not happy with Talay, he isn't on the pitch giving away loose pass's, mis directed ones, taking on too many trying to beat 3/4 then lose possesion.
Caceras and others how many would stop with the ball looking where to play next.
For semi finals time you'd think a team would be in cohesion and get a number of shots on goal through 90mins.

they didn't look like they knew what they were doing the whole night to be honest
Talay loves his highline. Sydney have conceded about 30 goals in the past 10 matches or something like that. He certainly doesn't seem to know what he's doing tactically. This ACL2 for him is last chance saloon, if they get knocked out next week then they have no reason to keep him considering the disaster the season has been for Sydney

IF they turn this around next week I'll be damn surprised.
Besides his highline approach its what you do with the ball and they had heaps/enough couldn't break through the bus.
Sailors counters were expected but how the SFC backline dealt with them was lacking mentality big time.
Of the back 4 Perkins is about the only one worth playing the rest - meh.
Whos the CDM ? considering Caceras pushed high and not defensive type they lack a Bratten type big time.

Two high quality goals. Still, not impossible next week.

Has to be said, Talay has not convinced as the gaffer this season.

They're all in on HDM as a long term replacement.

Sydney going to have play well to turn this around

Sydney can score but with a goal difference to chase they need to not concede. They're recent run of defensive form is pathetic. I can't see a turn round. This Lion City mob will do what they did at home, absorb pressure and play a defensive block and wait for the space to open up eventually.
