And Cahn has just taken up a coaching gig overseas apparently…….IIRC Zadkovitch was promoted when the then newly appointed coach, Ben Cahn, had to step aside for health reasons. Originally it was going to be temporarily but once Cahn's diagnosis became more dire, Zad's appointment became permanent for continuity reasons. I thought that Zad had done a reasonable job at PG but then for officially unknown reasons he was sacked.
As for Roar the problem is not just Zad - it's the squad. O'Shea should have scored or at the very least force a save twice. Warland is just a brute on the field with little skills. Zavala well he has already peaked and won't improve nor teach the younger players anything. Over at PG Zdrilic is in the same boat. And any coach will struggle. The path is to have a decent youth academy, some useful A-League stalwarts and complemented by skilled overseas players.
Unfortunately for BR & PG their youth academies are below par. It took Melbourne City approximately 7 seasons to have the physical and human infrastructure to create a good academy. CCM & AU have been doing it for longer. Sydney FC is catching up. MVC is just starting to get off the ground. The rest are just making the numbers.
