I think that if Sydney FC or another Sydney based franchise became available, the chances are that it wouldn't be too long before an individual or a consortium came along and purchased the franchise. Owning a sports franchise in a 'Premier League ' level world city like Sydney would be a very desirable place to be, regardless of whether the competition it plays in is popular or not......Brilliant analogy.
From memory this franchise was formed without an owner, and has since survived on the generosity of a few people who came and left.
So 20 years on and here we are, a franchise without an owner.
In addition, I also often wonder where SFC would be now without a Russian oligarch's money.
The same would be true of Melbourne....When Vic-tor-ree eventually shits itself I'll guarantee that there's going to be someone who comes along and picks up the pieces.
And with Brisbane, the soon to be an Olympic City, even the most rubbish soccer franchise in the history of world, Brisbane Roar would be an interesting prospect.
But the CCM in lil'ol Gosford??
