Members discussion

Must add the Podcasts and Fan View articles are both fantastic concepts for G and G!

Thanks a bunch to all involved for getting them up and running!

These two facets of this forum put G and G into another league as a forum. We might be able to entice club members to G and G to write about their clubs on Fan View.

the polite and respectful posters who type obscenities at me on a regular basis?
You aren’t on my Ignore function, but some of your mates are.

So you can’t be that bad, Loops. I’d like to think I’ve been civil to you as well.

Maybe if you actually agree with posters on occasion it might be prudent to show it. Not always be so contrary.

Everybody, or 99 percent, want more posters and more traffic on G and G. So that includes you in, ‘more posters and more traffic.’

agreeing is not a discussion

there is no point to post if I'm in agreement

you're just uncomfortable with facts so you attack the messenger
From my perspective, messengers rarely deliver facts.

Perhaps he is uncomfortable with messengers instead?

Have you ever thought of whilst agreeing with someone, using a concrete example to illustrate their point, which may elicit further discussion?

Have you ever thought of describing some positive qualities in some Aussie players, teams or coaches?

Have you ever thought of delineating some of the improvements in women's football?

Can you see how your enormous post count is contributing towards G and G Forum's growing reputation?

How about posting a Fan View article from Loops about the amount of time and effort you are putting into G and G Forum, which appears to stimulate you?

Any positive ideas on recruitment for G and G, Loops?

How about appearing on a G and G Podcast with Grazor, Alex and Zimbos?

It's sport, people discuss points of agreement all the time. Most people can bond over just repeating names of players they used to love watching for hours and have a good time.

I tend to think you are just trolling on this forum for your own amusement, and you probably are, but if you are wondering why you get a chilly reception it isn't your opinions.

Is there a football opinion you have that someone else doesn't have on this forum? You see the A league as equal to the conference league, I suspect that is a minority opinion but there are others that rate it that low, SMMike does and he is a regular on the pod! @LFC I believe rates the a league league 2 to conference level too.

The difference is two fold - first, you don't represent other peoples views accurately. For example, in the AA thread you acted as if the majority expected tilio to start for celtic! You don't seem to seek out understanding why people disagree with you. Of course even if you did represent people accurately, people are still going to passionately disagree. Passions are going to fly in football. Look at how @Sutherlandbear and @Sharkman84 had it out with @Monoethnic Social Club.

Second, as highlighted by the post I'm quoting, you don't seem to be for anything. Do you like your local grass roots club/npl club? Are you pro p&r? Are there old socceroos you loved watching and miss. People bond over what they have in common. If you are genuinely want to make friends here and are struggling, find what you have in common with people and chat about that, not just the stuff you disagree with. This is a recreational forum and the effect of always disagreeing and then doing so in a way that isn't engaging the person you are talking to is kind of like walking into a beach resort and yelling at everyone "why you drinking a beer, it makes you fat you moron. Everyone here thinks beer cures cancer and I'm the only truth-teller in this cult. Hey why you walking away you snowflake! Can't handle facts?"

Lupi isn't a troll as such Grazor.

He just loves to 'debate' and trade insults in the age old Aussie fashion as I see it. He would be as happy battling wills over a bottle cap as talking anything else. 'Live banter' is how I would describe his pleasure in here.

Fun to fire off a salvo or two at him/with him from time to time but not a poster to actually discuss anything with or to take comments to heart over.

Here for a different reason to most of us.

If he didn't like cricket so much he would probably be gone by now ;).

I don't think Loops is a troll either, just particularly contrary and adversarial. Conversely, some of his 'mates' deliberately troll.

I also strongly uphold Loops' right to express different opinions. When a lot of posters use strident language to put him down, or John Smith, altogether, it isn't a good look for G and G.

I might agree with their collective perspective, but not bullying him, or any other posters (who aren't recidivist trolls).

You expressed an insightful view a few years ago on 442/IS, RMIB. That you gave new posters time who may have appeared overly feisty. Moreover, that you have seen a change in demeanour over time in a few of these posters. Excellent point!

Didn't realise Loops was a cricket fan? Can't remember many of his posts? Or maybe they've been conciliatory?
