A thread for the lower leagues.

Morecambe have been booted from the National League. They have a striking resemblance to Western United!

The Shrimps were put up for sale by owners Bond Group in September 2022, but a deal has still not been completed, and two relegations in three seasons since have seen the club drop into the National League for the first time since 2007.

Late payment of wages, transfer embargoes and points deductions have all overshadowed matters on the field.

The club were docked three points late on during the 2023-24 League Two season after failing to adhere to an agreed decision imposed on them for failing to pay players' wages on time the previous August.

They were then given a suspended two-point deduction last season for failing to report on five separate occasions the non-payment of amounts owed to HMRC within the required two working days.

With just over two weeks until the start of the upcoming 2025-26 campaign, two parties have had bids to buy the club accepted, but it is unclear how close a deal is to getting over the line.

wish our league had the outlook the national league has.
When I watch some games, the vibe just oooze's of the passion.
Local pubs packed, nothing fancy.
Brings you back to ground what the game is about.
yeah but they dont have franchises mate... they don't know what they are missing out on with Star Wars round....

yep and long may it continue !

Friggin star wars round and all these other gimmicks to rope in casuals in desperation yet people support/defend the notion about the metrics.
Its boardroom outlook no more no less yet people get sucked in.
Got to shake your head.

You can do EXACTLY the same here mate, and your patronage will be a hell of a lot more appreciated... How was the trip to Tarneit last night? I bet it didnt even come close to what was happening in Kingsway?

Didn't end up going but looking on tv obviously it's not very exciting. It's actually hard to explain to my pommy father in law western united are a professional team and Olympic Kingsway aren't

It looked to me apart from maybe Piscopo, everyone on Olympic Kingsway's team had more technical ability and pace. Aren't these supposed to be part timers with jobs? hahaha

here here MSC, the same will apply tonight @ Leichardt.
Invested locals young and old jumping to support.

this is the point MCG, to be clear its all about investing in your own backyard.
There's that saying looking after your own backyard for thats where your core business is/comes from.
Why I said about the national league, thats the end non pro/grass roots/NPL many of us have lived and breathed all our lives and brought our kids into it........
Nothing fancy nor gimmicks, its just about being at the local ground watching passionate kids/players going 110% and on the sideline being excited your team/club giving it their all...fighting P/R at our levels. (thats the games dna)
Obviously its a high going to see top end games like EPL/Liga etc for lets face it they are the F1 of the game per say.
Its an experience - same applies going to lower level games when abroad, I seen lower league games in many countries and its another buzz ofcourse.....infact I like it better for I dislike massive crowds if I can avoid them.
The game is split here the have's and the have not's who might I add out number the have's who do not engage with the APL.
Hence the conundrum, no matter of the past we hardly had a decent P/R and now a closed top product the point is now having to set the game straight in the modern times.
Though all we keep seeing is excuse's and gutless leadership.

Take him down to Eastern Lions, they are at home on 15th August, if you wanna get into his good books :)
