also just if anyone is interested its a little bit complicated but this is how our promotion and relegation works between NPL and SL 1 here in W.A

Article 3 - Promotion to the National Premier Leagues WA-M 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. There are two (2) opportunities for promotion to the NPLWA Competition, outlined in paragraphs 2 and 3. One (1) automatic promotion position will be awarded to the team finishing in first place in State League Division 1.
This team will replace the last-placed team in the NPLWA-M, who will be relegated to State League Division 1. A second opportunity for promotion is available through a play-off tournament as detailed in Article 4.
If a Club’s First Team is promoted or relegated, this applies to the First Team, Under 20s/Reserves and Under 18s age groups. Participation in, or promotion to, a Senior NPL Competition does not provide the Club with the automatic opportunity to compete in the NPL Juniors Competitions.
Promotion via these methods is subject to a Club’s eligibility to be promoted or participate in the NPLWA Competition, in accordance with the Football West Competition Management Regulations. The NPL Eligibility Criteria, and the date by which each criterion must be met, are listed in the Football West Club Licencing Manual.
Football West will in its sole discretion determine whether a Club meets the NPL Promotion Eligibility Criteria. In the event that a Club's First Team attains promotion to the NPLWA-M Competition through sporting merit but does not fulfill the NPL Promotion Eligibility Criteria, a vacancy will arise. This vacancy will be addressed in accordance with Article 1, paragraph 16 of the NPLWA Competition Rules. Article 4 - Promotion and Relegation Play-Off 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. The Club whose First Team finishes in second last position in the NPLWA-M and the Clubs whose First Teams finish in second, third and fourth positions in State League Division 1 will compete in a Play-Off tournament to determine which Club will play in the NPLWA-M in the following season.
Two semi-final ties (Play-Offs) will be played over two Matches. One semi-final Match will be played between the Team that finished second last in the NPLWA-M and the Team that finished fourth in State League Division 1.
The other semi-final Match will be played by the Team that finished second in State League Division 1 and the Team that finished third in State League Division 1. The losing Team from each semi-final Match will play in State League Division 1 in the following season. The winners of each semi-final Match will play each other in the Final Match, which is to take place over a single leg at a venue determined by Football West.
The winning Team of the Final Match will play in the NPLWA-M the following season. The losing Team of the final Match will play in State League Division 1 in the following season. The Play-Off Competition Format is as follows: a) Each Play-Off Semi Final will comprise of two Matches – one Match at each Club’s home venue. Should a Club’s home venue not be available, that Club will be responsible for sourcing an alternative venue at its own cost. 3 b) The dates and times of the Matches will be determined by Football West and may not be challenged by either Club. c) d) e) 7.
The highest ranked team in the Semi Final play off tie will be offered the choice of playing their home match first or second. The Play-Off Final will be held at a venue determined by Football West at its sole discretion..

I for one hope they are found at sea by the coast guard as there were alot of distress signals.

Also glad to see they are still covid safe wearing masks and balaclavas at a football match

Why were they all huddles so close together, its wasn't that cold on Friday??? hahahahaha

Any word on how many points they will be deducted for the flares? Or is Aki's wife waiting to see where they are on the table by the time Oakleigh plays them?

So Victory play tonight in the NPL Victoria.

Im a bit new to the NPL scene, but im assuming that the guys that will play for Victory will all be getting paid by Victory, either on a scholarship or fully professional contract basis. Is that correct?

What parameters are put around this to make it a fair and even competition? Are they limited by age?

I believe they are restricted by U23 age for the full squad as one of the conditions of Aleague clubs competing in the NPL ....

Its usually scholarship or offc ontract players early parts of the season with a few Aleague regulars "dropping down" once the Aleague season has either finished or is out of finals reach... Unlike other states, the comp here in VIC is very strong and the Aleague clubs tend to finish in the lower half of the table, this year it will be a miracle if Victory manages to stay up. ......

In before they absolutely smash Altona tonight and I am proved wrong. hahahahahahahahaha

yeah i was more curious around the fact that these players are essentially full-time professionals and getting paid accordingly. The under 23 rule makes sense to level the playing field somewhat.

Even though there is likely players throughout NPL Victoria at ohter clubs getting paid more than what an A-league shcolarship contract is worth

Um yeah mate Scholarship is like 24K a year or something .... Most NPL players are on ALOT more than that.....

Its not about leveling the playing field, its the concession made to allow Aleague franchises to NOT have the added expense of creating a national youth league which they neither want or can afford....

Scholarships is about 50k i think.

There would still be NPL players on more than that.

I think this was from 2 years ago though?
  • Scholarship Players: introduction of a minimum salary of $12,400 to replace the previous hourly rate payable. Scholarship Player payments will now also be excluded from the salary cap to provide more flexibility for Clubs whilst guaranteeing a minimum remuneration for players. This restructure includes a revised trigger for an increase in salary if the Scholarship Player now appears in 50% of the Regular Season.

yeah they are one the longest and most iconic clubs over here ,

they fell away early 2000's and struggled nearly even being demoted from the SL back when it was done by invitation but in the last 10 years have re built the club and on its way to being to the top 4-5 clubs were it used to sit years ago.

I think only players up to 21 can play for them.

Though they have the luxury of if a player is injured the can bring players in from their a league squad that meet requirements.

They can drop them in anytime they want really.

Apparently at the NPL Gold medal night if you drank in the first hour everytime they mentioned oakleigh you'd have the comprehension skills of some npl officials.

Points id say nothing since its not a club
Oakleigh bundoora football vic definitely no corruption, favouritism conflict of interest cannons have some sort of issue with.
