NPL 2025

I thought Esteban was a Legend for youse ? spouse his use by date arrived by the sound of it.
Why no recruiting for such an important season ahead and Championship.

window your only saving grace depending how far down the ladder you are.

Will be beaten in the return leg surely. Far better equipped venue for that sorta crowd
Hard to say, the return leg will be played in the middle of winter. Tonight was perfect.

Next part will depend on Souths ladder position, if we are struggling which is likely it could affect it.

Although i suspect that maybe ladder positions wont matter, Preston have hosted twice now, think the general public will be hanging to see the next installment of this in a better venue (no disrespect to BT connor reserve).

After tonight i think its entrenched itself as a must see fixture.

Exactly! We should have recruited more quality with the Championship coming up instead the football department is satisfied losing 3 grand finals in a row

well from the outside this is on the Prez and bean counters of the club - Estaban like any gaffa can only ask.
It sure is damn unusual when the Club keeps pushing for the open comp that I'm all for but putting their dibs on these other comps ahead just doesn't make sense.
Something we will never know whats happenning in the backroom skunk works.
Big shame for this season is meant to be the break out season of whats coming ahead that everyone knows about unless we have been led up the garden path..

The club is definately to blame but the reality is South still has a heap of quality players, you just wouldnt know it with the way Esteban sets them up, they all look petrified when they have the ball, its embarassing. The groundwork for 2026 needs to begin now but it wont with him still at the helm.

Some of the unhinged rants and showboating making it an NPL v aleague thing will endear nobody to the clubs I don’t think. Just puts people off.

As someone who I think sits on the fence of following both, you just don’t see the same vitriol thrown at the NPL as thrown at the aleague.

I’d much rather watch south and Preston than an a-league game and clearly was one of many who think the same thing. Tbh I’d never watch an aleague game that didn’t involve MV

But just celebrate the awesome moment for what it is. IMO looks bad when make it about something else.

On the football, south are not as bad as some of their fans are making out. Preston were better but if I was a south fan I’d have been bored to death with some of the play over the last few seasons. But he’s gotten results.

I'm the first to praise how things are going at Preston and want the Championship and a pyramid more than anyone. But goddamn, comparisons like these are just daft, especially from a bandwagoner. Where's he been all these years? Speaking like this crowd is every Friday night.

Enjoy the heights for what it is, as someone else here mentioned earlier. But if you get into bullshit comparisons then you're inviting bullshit arguments and shit slinging. Like, making a comparison with the highest attended NPL match in how many years, which is just an average number for A-League... come on. Would we compare an A-League Sydney derby to a dud NPL crowd? Just stupid stuff. Do we really want to go back and compare Friday night crowds from every week for the previous 20 seasons? How's that going to turn out do they think?

I get the excitement. I'm pumped. But some people need to engage their brain and stop talking crap. Pump up the NPL, pump up the Championship, pump up Preston, but using this as a swipe at A-League, moronic. Not the first occurence from this guy. Is every A-League match meant to be pumping? Is every NPL match pumping??

One good thing to take from all this is holding Preston up as the inspiration or benchmark, but not just for the A-League, for all Australian football.

One day, maybe we'll lift each other up for the greater good of the game here.
