Over my years of going to Victory games and talking to the older supporters, many claim that Carlton, the nsl soccer team, died and came back to life in the form of Melbourne Victory.

There's even an old early days Carlton/Victory shirt I've seen some fans wear, although i don't know the history behind that shirt.

I don't know the full history myself, i don't know if Carlton is Victory, or if they merged, i got no idea, but apparently they do have ties together somehow.

Some of the older more knowledgeable fans might be able to shed some light on this.

Victory had links i guess, lots of italian higher ups, meanwhile heart originally had a lot of links to Melb Croatia

I do agree with you, and Preston really need to get on top of this. But at the moment I am really peeved with these other's who seem to be pushing this issue, PARTLY because they have problem with US! It's like they want to drag us down to their level of relative insignificance.

Your budget has been the highest in Victoria for the last 2 decades and you've still won less silverware than South, thats despite the fact that everything gets funneled into the senior mens team as you dont run a womens program.

The only reason you won those grand finals is because your sooking led to your federation contacts shifting grand finals away from Lakeside, now we all suffer because of you lot by having our biggest games played at the matildas shithole. Thats your clubs legacy, thanks!

Yes you did, and it was purely for nostalgia, you'll be lucky to get half of that crowd in the coming years and you know it.

Yeah you're right, South has overall been more successful than Oakleigh in a 20 year period, congratulations. You can live in the past all you like, i live in the now and the fact of the matter is, we're a much better performing club than South lately and whilst my team is defending it's title this year, your club is battling relagation, you must be proud.

No, you lost 3 grand finals, the fact that you think you only lost 1 is laughable and shows how delusional you south fans are. I'll never forget that glorious day when we destroyed South 5-0 in the grand final. Was funny hearing the excuses as south fans exited early.

Yes Oakleigh is a small club but one that is slowly growing in recent years. Atleast we know what we are and aren't pretending to be some big super club. We've won 2 grand finals in the last 3 years and constantly been playing finals this past decade, give or take, so yes, id say we've been setting the benchmark, along with Avondale.

Yeah no worries, I'll go to vanilla and enjoy touching my frappe whilst i watch Oakleigh compete in the finals this year. The FV confirmed last night on 3xy that the last 3 grand finals have been attended by 5,000...95% of the crowd in all 3 were South supporters.

Now tell me how is Oakleigh a better performing club when South finished higher on the ladder the past 3 seasons? Congrats you won 2 knockout finals series after finishing a trillion points off top, which you are repeating again this year. At least we beat you in the real cup comp (dockerty)

Congrats on your 5-0, but that grand final will always remembered for the shambolic lead up where you lot wanted it played at caroline springs ffs, between playing home games behind closed doors and forcing all finals to now be played at Bundoora you've absolutely fucked it for everyone else.

Once upon a time we had grand finals played at lakeside and aami park but poor little Oakleigh couldnt handle that.

Thankfully the real grand final is on the 9th between south and heidelberg, and when we lose (likely) i can accept being done over by a real club that doesnt have to resort to cheating. Im surprised you signed a goalkeeper during the transfer window and didnt wait for the semi finals! It’s not something I would have done back in my playing days personally, unsure why I’m being required to defend the actions of individual players on the field..but you guys know I don’t play for or have any involvement with the club in an official capacity right ? Have said previously that I’m not the biggest fan of the style of play that’s been brought in under tsekenis leadership. Same sort of style as the way he played when he was a tough centre half back in the 90s.

Maybe that’s a point of difference I know I’m not involved with the game in the field and I don’t try to get involved either. The players and officals are on the field and the fans of the club in the stands. Unsure why some people feel the need to try and blur those lines other than in terms of vocal support/banter

Unsure tbh, am aware of the incident, I saw the footage, but I wasn’t at the ground yet when it happened, didn’t see it live etc. can’t say I’m fully up to date re the disciplinary action in the u20s squad. Would imagine he probably would/should have copped something
