No doubt the JA debacle 2 yrs ago for $20k doesnt reflect well on the board and rightly so! Given the current reality though its not at all beneficial to get cought up on a pipe dream like that ATM!A winning team that plays good football with good individual players on show would lift our crowds to the 1,000 mark give or take with significantly more interest in derbies on top of that. Unfortunately i dont see it, Avondale and Heidelberg are so far ahead of us it would be more them imploding rather than us catching them.
The championship and heidelbergs involvement in it makes the JA situation very difficult. We should have got him 2 years ago but chose to stick with the bloke that lost 2 grand finals 9-0.
Abive all w are in need a manager that can complement the key players we already have and play to their strengths with a solid budget to then focus funds on adding an abundence of quality to that to raise the bar. JA football is great but we have limited players currently that can fit that style (especially defensively he will cut 3 out of the 4 at the first training session on speed alone)... he would require a massive overhaul of the entire playing roster IMO and this is just not feasible unless you have a season of NPL to do it!
This step up can happen with other options, if you are paying market value then you can attract similar or even better managers (big IF though)! Coaches like Aloisi is a prime example or even Veart (now at the joeys), coaches focused on youth and with solid experience who above all are aware of the histories of the foundation clubs and have a good standing in football still which all adds to the needed buzz required for traction..
Tell me an announcement of say Aloisi, and 3 fornaroli type additions wouldnt work wonders on crowds as well as on field success?
