Im content with our backline.

Fornaroli + 2 mids would be on my shopping list. I really like them but we can definately upgrade on Pope and Leech. Maybe another wide player with Brennan likely departing. Overall 3-4 players but 1-2 of them have to create a buzz.

As for todays game i suspect Avondale will be too strong regardless of how we approach it. We caught them when they were in patchy form last time but now they're flying. This team has so much quality, some of the mids like Trajcevski and Tevere are absolute technical wizards so we may get a snapshot today of what type of quality we need to bring in for the championship
 
What a joke of a performance! No hunger (or ability to perform) from the fringe players that shouldve wanted to prove a point given this opportunity... Brennan shouldnt get on the park again for South ...

To be fair that team we put in was a joke, lucky it wasnt 10. We have nowhere near the depth to be changing the entire lineup, i expected changes but i didnt think our entire spine would be exposed like that and even more so against that opposition. If you're throwing a game you need to diguise it a bit, thats a bad look for our club. To add to that it continues to highlight the disconnect between the club and the supporters, those who rocked up deserved more.

Exactly that...above all it was disrespectful! Wasnt going to match against oakleigh for well known reasons, now its certain i wont go out of principal and bot waste my money given i dont know what type of side we will field...

Have to say after a bright start Nagamatsu has tailed off big time. His touch has been poor last few games hes played.

Crazy to think Avondale had Zinni, Trajcevski, Aguek and Courtney perkins on the bench. Just shows the level we need to get to, them and heidelberg can basically play 2 teams of similar strength whilst we are a pub team.

We will play our best team next week to try beat Oakleigh but i wont be attending. Club needs to get to work to make sure we are ready in October.
 
The only way we will meet the standard thats expected of our club is if we poach Anastasiadis after the championship. The biggest club should have the best coach. No disrespect to Siki but JA football is what lakeside needs. Money talks and i expect a big offer to him. Siki gets the championship but i hope the club doesnt pull the trigger too quickly for 2026.

Especially when we know our depth is state league standard. I find it hard to believe we couldnt find 4-5 players from Wednesday night up for it. Mikkola has had heaps of time off lately, Jankovic missed weeks with suspension recently, you could easily start one of pope/leech and have the other on the bench..they cant all be that fatigued.

Its so hard to take us seriously when Messourouni plays, he wouldnt get a game with Knights!

You wonder what the thought process is when that team and bench is picked. Surely it clicks with someone that hey we could lose this by 10 goals...we seriously dodged a bullet that the scoring ended at 5.

Agree... but any proper club would ve long been planning the next steps given a franchise on the other end of town is on life support!

Fully agree! Whether it was a line dropped from the top or Sini none of them looked good after that! He did the hard work and credit to him ( dockery to his credit) but this again raises serious flashbacks to all those substitution errors he continually makes. Perhaps a viable option is that John Aloisi is brought in if available as Anastasiadis wont be an option till next season??
All.on the proviso that we will actually spend the cash to improve...

He even managed to dribble himself all the way out to touch and give a throw in.. under 9's stuff ffs.

Only reason is that they took the foot off the peddle.. this served more in burning players, than helping them couldnt think of more than 2 players id keep for the bench from that performance!
 
Im prepared to give Siki the championship but we arent a serious football club if we arent throwing the kitchen sink at Anastasiadis come Christmas time, and i say Christmas time because im expecting bergers to be semi final or grand finalists in the championship.

The dockerty cup and survival is great but playing a solid Sydney Olympic (from what i saw of them yesterday) and 3 top placed teams from interstate will be a true test of his credentials.

Either way i think we would be making a huge mistake if we lock in the current coach right now. Pressure is equally on the club to give Siki 4-5 top quality sigmings if they want him to be the man.

I find it completely unnaceptable that your Avondales and heidelbergs have 17-18 member squads where all are pretty much of equal talent whilst we get to player 13 and up and they're barely state league level.
