Thread today claiming old ethnic nsl clubs are what's holding back the npl and the championship. I'm a little baffled what their case is for that....so far it is just being asserted with no pushback

.... maybe someone should remind them that without ANY ethnic clubs in the NPL or the Championship there wouldn't BE an NPL or a Championsip ... :P

That was the post that caught my eye. It got a ton of upvotes!

They don't specify how they think it is being held back by these clubs? Just by existing? If they were holding the npl back surely they get relegated haha

Are we trash talking tho? kinda just quoting what is being said and being a bit baffled. I don't think that qualifies as trash talk

So they found out the clubs began for immigrants to socialise over 70 years ago…

The two that I know started off strictly as a social club are Preston and Bergers. So Idk, I think the guy is just flat out lying to suit whatever weird idea he has in his head...

The 'football focused' argument is so strange because thats how a lot of teams (in major places out side of Australia euro and sa) historically have evolved into mega clubs over time. Are people forgetting there is a huge SOCIAL aspect to the game?

Those same clubs that have defeated A League clubs ( APIA knocking out both MV and WSW for example ) in Australia Cup really held themselves back by doing things like that. Ah, the ignorance all of these decades later is astounding.
 
I went on to the reddit and someone claimed they get screen shots of this thread and there are allegedly "unhinged rants" in here.

I mean, there are definitely complaints and venting - I get frustrated with the anti-ethnic attitudes and casual racism that exist there as well as the lack of osaussie knowledge (but otherwise enjoy the subreddit). Did anything on this thread rise to the level of an "unhinged rant"?

Haha when hear trash talk I think of people saying "oh yeah! I could smash those guys in debate any time" and then never go on there

Can't speak for others but I've certainly had times over there where, at least from my perspective I've been trying to give evidence for a view and had some pretty aggressive stereotype riddled posts. I remain calm and evidence focused here but indeed do come on here to vent and lick my wounds. That's even though for me it's not personal (I support an a league club and am an anglo, so have no skin in the game defending traditional clubs from false accusations, stereotypes and exaggerations). Does that make this place my "safe space"? Haha probably, but what are you gonna do

Not to mention that fact that, at least in Victoria, if the ethnic clubs all ceased to exist tomorrow (as some of these neanderthals pray for) then the top 3 divisions of football in the state will be contested by 3 Aleague academies and Eastern Lions FC .... ONLY ...... (assuming they dont consider a British club effnikz)?
