Sam Kerr

FTR, I am a hard-liner when it comes to free speech, and charging Sam would've been absurd and a step in the wrong direction.

At the same time, as the captain of the national team in a game that desperately wants more mainstream acceptance, it's a terrible look and only confirms the prejudices (real or imagined) of the typical person who plays/ actively supports womens' football in this country, in the eyes of those who still hold some degree of skepticism. Surely the captaincy and the publicity for Australian women's football could go to somebody more worthy?

This is an interesting question re: the captaincy and different to whether she should have been charged/convicted. The court case was the right outcome imo.

What Kerr said though was ordinary, though not as bad as some blow it up to be. Still there's a question about whether those are the values you accept from the NT captain.

I don’t recall a high profile captain being caught and behaving as such male or female last 20yrs.
I find the vids I’ve viewed and her language is pretty low considering her status.
I would release her from being captain.
She has lost the honour.

C'mon mate. Australian sports stars are renowned for getting up to all sorts of garbage. There's a looooong history of it.

Given the choice between a sheila who vomited and swore at a cop or a sexual assault, drug taking, drug importing, raping NRL or AFL idiot I'd take the sweary captain any day of the week..

Answer me this. The copper involved didn't file a complaint after the arrest.

11 months later, 11 MONTHS, somebody has gotten in his ear and said here's a chance to get this 'uppity bitch'.

What a wanker whoever was behind that.

Imagine being known as the bloke that got called stupid and white and went to court over it.

I've got paramedic and nursing friends. They have been laughing their arses off about this. They'd spend their whole life in court with the shit said to them over one shift let alone one instance on one night.

Old mate has come out of this with a dozen eggs on his face.

In fact it's probably a dead heat between who was the biggest flog here, Kerr or PC Lovell.

Didn't the greatest golfer I have ever seen Tiger Woods, have sex with everything that moves, including some fellow players wives.
John Terry had sex with his team mate wife, Ryan Giggs having affair with his brother wife. Numerous EPL players with assaults on their wives or girlfriends.
Didn't a famous celebrity who also happened to be president of an AFL club Collingwood call for Adam Goodes to try out for the role of King Kong.
Shane Warne & Maradona both acted in ways you would not want your kids to copy.
 
Sticking to football none of our local codes are international with the exceptions of rugby's but nothing compared to global football.

Maradona goes way beyound 20yrs not that it excuse's his behaviour.
Sex ? this is about being pissed, spewing in a cab, broken window, the resistance, the language recorded by a NT Cap.
You may think its excusable and I think you do but she ain't no captain to me talking as such recorded in public for all to see.
Imagine if it was Neil/Ryan/Jedi etc - the do gooders/PC etcetc would be going much harder and demanding they'd be dropped from the position no doubt.
