No. You blend them in with the right experienced players. What you are suggesting is that you never allow non experienced players to play in these tournaments because they just won't be up to it. How do you think we got Sharn Freieir as a now considered starter?

You are always going to have fall out when things don't work, but you rather that happen when you have a probably plan and system in place and developing things, as opposed to losing with your most experienced and having no possible other options.
Now this is the nux of the argument…which, in your opinion, are the experienced players to dump and which to blend in with the ‘new blood’?

Arnold, Williams, Kennedy, Van Egmond, Yallop, Gorry (I would start to thnk about her replacement), Luik, Heyman. All of them are either in the squad or were recently called up.

They should not have automatic selection as some of them have shown they are liabilities. They also have not really torn their local leagues up to warrant that automatic selection.
I did ask the question but your ‘evidence’ is purely opinion.
Well no, I actually watch the game. I watch the A-league W and I also watch WSL. I keep an eye on what our players are doing in the leagues they play. What I provided was not based off random suggestions.

Gorry is the one I'd be putting in squads, has the leadership and still doing well on the park. Arnold would be next but we need to look elsewhere. And Heyman still going ok as a squad player, would add some guidance for the kids.

The rest though, should've been replaced already. Something serious wrong with VE still getting minutes.

I watch the game too, ALW, WSL, USL Super League, FA WSL, I could go on but you get the picture. I get my ‘evidence’ from this but at the end of the day it’s just my opinion.
By the way is the Williams you refer to Lydia ? She retired a while back.

I would not advocate for dropping Gorry, but we need to think long term about who will replace her and who can come in as cover for her. She can't be the one we rely one. Arnold has shown herself to be a quite liable at times, and at this level, you need to have a solid goalkeeper.

If we are relying on a 36 year old striker who has retired once, that says a lot about the system we are developing, which is none. You want her to guide the youth, that's fine, but there are other ways to do that than her taking a spot and also being picked to play over them.

She was selected for the Olympics. I included her more as an indication of how bad our policy has been with regards to these players. She should never have been at the Olympics. She was not starting and was basically taking up a spot that a youngster could have had and gained invaluable experience from.

It is just your opinion, but you seem to be angling as if your opinion is more valid than other peoples.

I’m sure you know the saying ‘opinions are like a**holes’ and that’s why we frequent these forums.😀

Mackenzie Arnold would most likely be demoted to second-string keeper and replaced by Teagan Micah as starter given how she seems to be regressing in recent times and conceding more goals. I agree that Heyman is still going strong and would give much needed experience to the squad, but inevitably she'll want to re-retire and we need to look at other ways of bolstering the forward line when that eventually happens.

I'd say van Egmond definitely has to go also. We have other versatile players like Raso and Sharn Freier who can play both attacking midfield and in the forward line, and who I think should be mainstays in the Matildas setup instead.

Van Egmond should not have been selected for about the past 3 years.

Starting XI's been named for the 3rd v 4th 'spoon bowl' clash against Colombia at Snapdragon Stadium, our last game in the SheBelieves Cup. Five changes to the side from our game against the USA with Michelle Heyman, Clare Hunt, Emily van Egmond, Tameka Yallop and Katrina Gorry starting in place of Heatley, Foord, Fowler, Kennedy and Holly McNamara.

We're underway against Colombia with the away kits getting their debut. Kyra Cooney-Cross pressuring the Colombian keeper right off the bat.

So much for regeneration - van Egmond (31), Yallop (33), Gorry (32), Heyman (36). Particularly as none of them can be considered nailed-on first 11 players.
