Thats was basically my MO on the old 442 forum... lurked for 2-3 years before taking the plunge... patience dude, your creeping up to 300 members, thats NOT BAD for less than 3 months.
Same, although a lot of that was down to just the forum having tech issues when I tried to sign up all the time.
I don't think it would work to drive members or engagement. You want the forum to be accessible to people. People lurk then jump into it. I've heard that experience from people all the time on sports forums.

I think people are more inclined to want to join if they can see people engaging and if they read something they feel they can contribute to. I know that I am the type that if it forces me to sign up I just leave.

I used to use Tapatalk but it was a pain in the butt for compatibility and ongoing issues. I just use this site through a web browser on the phone, it's perfect.
I prefer Tapatalk.
