Summer of Cricket thread

Mr Green has been a nervous starter and it shows which is a red rag to a bull for a bowler, but there was a clear change in his intent in County cricket as he did impose himself on the opening bowlers. This obviously gave him confidence as he proceeded to peel off three centuries in his five match stint. I was surprised and very pleased by this new approach.
Was disappointed in Green given his county form, Baggers.

Down the track possibly. He has the technique, temperament tho is a work in progress.

Hearing he will have his pinkie strapped and should be able to manage to hold the bat, albeit with some pain.

Saffers hit the ground running. Cummins would've made the wrong call as he was gonna bat.
Well said!

Ok onward and upward, the West Indies series is the first in the Caribbean for a decade. Recall Josh bowling beautifully on this 2015 tour, one of his first ever series. Australia won the series quite comfortably from memory.

As much as it sucks to lose, I don't think this loss will be a bad thing in the long run as this one off game was always going to be decided by the batting and our batters simply didn't stand up. The team with the lone centurion won the contest and it proved to be a very good toss to win and the right call to bowl first.

I agree with the comments about needing to start thinking more about Lyon's successor AND that opening with Marnus and the flow on effect it had in a big game to be completely idiotic in a winner takes all final! Konstas should have played for Marnus with Smith moving up to 3 and Green at 4. Green will never be a first drop bat and there's nothing wrong with that - middle order is his jam.

I hope Marnus gets benched for the first test against Windies although now with Smith likely out they'll prob have an excuse to keep him. I'd rather Inglis as he hasn't looked like making runs for years. Sorry but you used all your luck up Marn.
Labu’s average has only been something like mid 20s for two years. It is probably only that the team is winning that his position has been saved.

I’ve made the decision not to subscribe to Kayo ATM. It is $30 per month, which is comparatively expensive. Plus most of the West Indies Test cricket is going to be played between 12 midnight and 7am - my sleeping hours!

Supposedly there is a Kayo 2 hour highlights package, but there is a 15min or 30 min YouTube one - which is free.

When we play in England, South A, NZ or Asia, the viewing times are good for Aussies on the Eastern Seaboard.

Perhaps, dropped for the First Test tho.

Aussie First Windies Test X1 (bold): Pat Cummins (c), Sean Abbott, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Sam Konstas, Matt Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Beau Webster.

Who are your top 7 bats.

First view of the Barbados pitch.

A pre-rain inspection revealed a firm, straw-coloured surface with thick grass coverage and some dry patches that could break up during the match. The pitch is hard and should get better during the next couple of days with warm temperatures forecast.

Looks that it may take spin later in the game so Aussies may go in with Kuhnemann too.

Tough to select, but I'm keen on Labu being dropped for some time with his paltry mid 20s batting average for the last 2-3 years, and his advancing age.

I thought McSweeney was selected in the squad?

Usman
Konstas
Green
Head
Inglis

Cummins

Question: Does Fox not directly have the rights for the West Indies tour? Yes, it is on Fox/Kayo via ESPN - but this means it’s also available via Disney+

it might be an experimental line up but only the top two clubs make the world test championship so every match matters

Hey fellas just jumping in and haven’t seen footage as yet.
Am I reading right 14wickets for day 1 ?!
