Update from South Hobart:

We continue to position a TASMANIAN TEAM for Foundation Club status in a home and away
stand alone competition. The October Football Australia media release identified and
recognised the achievement of South Hobart FC as one of six additional clubs that have passed
the technical elements of the NST RFP process but were unable to meet the mandatory
financial requirements to play in a standalone NST home and away league competition prior to
the deadline of June 2024.

Next steps in 2025
Football Australia has committed to a third NST Request for Proposal selection
process (anticipated in the coming weeks), with the intention this process will identify
additional foundation clubs, including “predominantly from underrepresented states”.
Ahead of this process commencing, we are meeting with key stakeholders to provide
an update on the AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP and to position the bid for a
TASMANAN TEAM. Football Australia representatives are participating in these
meetings.

South Hobart FC continues to engage with Football Australia, the NST Foundation
Clubs, Tasmanian clubs and Junior Soccer Associations, and other key stakeholders
(including our Member Federation, Football Tasmania) to position for a TASMANIAN
TEAM to play on the national stage, in our most played sport.

During every stage of our work related to the NST, and in each of our written submissions,
we have highlighted our explicit interest, support and commitment to a future FA women’s
national second tier competition (i.e. positioned between existing national ‘A-League W’,
and the existing state and territory level competitions (the WSL Women’s Super
Leagues).

so is the rfp upcoming in three weeks or being finished in 3 weeks?

Where does it mention three weeks? I can see "coming weeks", and this newsletter is already two weeks old. So, very soon I think. Who knows if it's the start or finish of another RFP? I'd guess it's the start because we haven't heard any leaks from other clubs.

oh sorry you are right, somehow read something more specific :D

they originally couldn't meet the financial requirements back in '24.

Now I see '25 it quotes the RFP -
with the intention this process will identify
additional foundation clubs, including “predominantly from underrepresented states”.

Well as the economy is getting tougher how are they going to find the the financial requirements they couldn't meet originally I ask ?
Sure maybe requirements have changed but costs would have "increased" in the meantime.
Seriously I find Tassie/SHFC up a creek without a padd$e but good luck to them.

South Hobart would still be around at state level like the other NST teams. But I guess they feel it would be better for them and the state to draw on all of Tassie instead of going alone. No one else is putting their hand up there, so they might be right!
But they won't play in all of tassie. They plan in Hobart. We have been down this road so many times before. Be specific who your target is.

Don’t mind them calling themselves “Tasmania”. They don’t have a pro football team, no NRL, no union, maybe an AFL team, recently got an NBL team, had a cricket team for a while. There will be a Tasmania v Mainland/Us v Them mentality for sure.
