When I wrote that I said that was the last I heard. I am retired now and don't have the same sources that I once had. South Hobart may well pass now - they had already passed the technical constraints. The FA probably didn't look at the financial constraints if a club couldn't pass the technical constraints.

TBH the lighting from the South Hobart v South Melbourne game was line-ball or that may have been the quality of the cameras.
It wasn't a dig at you at all mate, we've all heard the "financial requirements" excuse before. With it all being under NDAs, it reeks of massaging levels to suit agendas. Fact is, if they really wanted this, it would've happened by now. I'll await the results of the third RFP before I grab my pitchfork and light my torch.

Reminds me of the ($5 mill?) deposit required at the start of the a league being used to deter traditional clubs who weren’t able to pay it from applying..and then waving the requirement later anyway when it suited and the clubs they wanted couldn’t pay it

Worth noting KGV isn't South Hobart's actual ground. They play at Darcy Street which has no lighting. If Avondale are going to play at Reggio Calabria though I can't imagine lighting is being considered necessary for matches.

Don't know if it was here but remember seeing a rumour of quite a few games being played on Sunday afternoon (also don't know how accurate that was as can't find it now). Darcy Street has more pressing issues than lightning anyhow, hopefully assuming South Hobart qualify they can still play there.

Curious question: if you took other random sports like field hockey ice hockey or whatever, what is the lowest budget a club has and competes in a national competition?

A couple of years ago I made a list of all the national leagues I could find in Australia. Handball was one of them, HANDBALL FFS! No idea how they make it work. Not sure if any have died off now:

"How are these other Australian national leagues surviving? AIHL and AWIHL ice hockey, ABL baseball, AHCC handball, AVSL volleyball, WNBL basketball, WNCL cricket, SRW union, H1 hockey etc… some of these even include international teams from NZ and Fiji!"

Blows the mind🤯🤯🤯

So much wrong with this decision.
Why run for two years? They've just killed the vibe before it's even begun anyway.
Why not just go forward with an 8 team league like initial thoughts?
As if not one other club in Australia met criteria. If true, then the criteria is rubbish.
Will those foundation clubs be refunded the interest on their $500k?
People have failed the game bigtime here. Heads need to roll. I'm sounding more and more like SMFCMIKE every day 😂😭

This better come with a "fake news" follow up bc i am already fkn livid...
Not that it should surprise me/us mind you, primarily after the lackey was put in place at FA...which is why i kept pushing for a contingency plan.

I am waiting on the backlash from both my club (now) as well as Preston etc bc there needs to be a proportionate reaction to those FA jokers who clearly "have the best interest of the game in mind"...

Waiting to see something more concrete than this to jump to any conclusions just yet. Certainly would kill a lot of momentum and appetite for this years edition

I think it’ll be a very hard sell for it to just be completely canned now. The powers that be would have been better off just letting dead dogs lie than getting fans and clubs hopes up. This is a way to get some sort genuine revolt going amongst clubs who would have put their money and resources into this only be told ..sorry, you just play state league for ever after all. Actually you know what, anyone who’s not in the A league gets to just play skins v shirts in the park

If this were to be true I doubt many of the clubs would just accept it quietly and just forget any of this ever happened

I like Mark but when it’s comes to the NSD he has gotten things wrong he gets information off people so I reckon this is wrong
Here's hoping now, but thats a big call to make if you dont have sources (and on the back of others talking about this letter that has gone out to clubs)..becomes hard to ignore the elephant in the room really, epsecially with the "omerta" undertaken to date..

Not good for his reputation and employment if he keeps posting BS. At least say it's just a rumour and give yourself an "out'.
