Hello again all - I've started to get cracking on my logo/club home grounds/leagues project again.

I may end up tagging people specifically for help when I get to certain stages, but will update everything all at once (most likely via a public Google Drive doc)

At the moment, via Google Earth, I have mapped out (as far as I could gather from association/competition websites for the 2024 season) every football club in the country. I've tried to devise a pyramid in the folder structure, and will then map this out when complete.
  • Google Earth
    • All 9 member federations complete
  • Club Logos
    • Northern Territory - Complete
    • Tasmania - Complete
    • Capital Football - Complete
    • Western Australia - Complete
    • South Australia - NPL, State League 1, State League 2 and Amateur Leagues Complete (Amateur with some clubs I couldn't find on the comps, but I did in club database, so may need a hand from @HappyGuus to place these in the pyramid as I haven't got them in the Google Earth folder structure, but I do have the logos/names)

  • Spreadsheet Pyramid
    • This will have a separate sheet in one document for each member federation, as well as the APL.
    • Essentially each sheet will outline what I see as the 'pyramid' (regardless of promotion/relegation) with each club in it that I've gotten a logo/location for AS OF THE START OF THE 2024 SEASON
    • Will probably do a master sheet that shows ALL LEAGUES from A-LEAGUE to the BOTTOM by league/association (without clubs). What will be my lowest ranked league in Australia by tier? Probably somewhere in Victoria, they're organised so they actually have a lot of tiers.
  • Have decided to finish this spreadsheet first before I finish the logo hunting. But, I have now finished the logo hunting for South Australia, so now just Northern NSW, QLD, VIC and NSW to go.

UPDATED LOGOS
  • South Australia logos complete
  • Northern NSW NPL, Zone Premier League, Zone Leagues 1, 2 and 3
  • Select clubs from Victoria and NSW from my 2020 archive (I had completed these two states in 2020, but in Photoshop file form [PSD], not standard images [JPG, PNG]). Clubs from these areas that I have a standard image of have been updated to the Google Drive folder. Slight chance these are out of date. Once NNSW and QLD are complete, I will export the PSDs to PNG and incorporate into their relevant folders, and then update any new logos as I research.
  • ARCHIVE folder in Google Drive - this is for the few clubs that I've come across that seem to be in the process of changing their logo, or for whatever reason I already had the older version of their logo (most likely from my 2020 project). Rather than replace, I've put in here. Once I've completed every club, I might try and see (if I can be bothered) to try and store old club logos (which may mean a separate directory)
PYRAMID UPDATE
  • It's come to my attention that I have gotten the Western Australia tier structure incorrect, with the Amateur Leagues and Metro Leagues to be swapped around. While this shouldn't alter the amount of clubs, it will change where a few of the clubs sit within the pyramid, so will need to update this when I get a chance.

Qld to their credit have p and r right down to the bottom whereas nsw cut off p and r quickly and tas have a bunch of disconnected leagues

It hasn't been 100% for a while. There isn't any pro/rel in Tassie, for example. But it's a good starting point for visualising the pyramid.

It looks like 2018 was the only season to have true pro/rel in Tassie.

In late 2016, FFT announced they will expand the league to ten teams and introduce a promotion/relegation system. The winner of the 2018 Southern and Northern Championships were promoted into NPL Tasmania and to have the competition with ten teams for 2019, however Northern Rangers withdrew from the league leaving nine clubs. From the end of the 2019 season the winners of the Northern and Southern Championships will play-off against each other with the winner then automatically replacing the last placed finisher in the NPL Tasmania whilst the loser of the Northern and Southern Championships Play-off will play an additional play-off for a place in the NPL Tasmania in the following season against the second last NPL Tasmania club.

Not sure. A couple of clubs merged and dropped out and they couldn't get back to 10 clubs. Plus COVID came along. You'd think it should be pretty simple to organise the comp down there... it's one of Pignata's goals now.

Ah ok if its just a post covid hangup

Was worried pignata might be ideologically opposed to p and r given his opposition to south hobart joining the nst
 
Yeah very possible it was put on pause for COVID then never recovered.

ACT paused pro/rel to the 2nd division Capital Premier League for a year too. But with Tassie, I suspect that wasn’t the sole reason

if these systems remain in place, it might be interesting looking at australia cup results the next decade or so to see the difference having a connected pyramid makes

  • QLD next
  • Vic and NSW afterwards - 2020 logos saved in PSD form, so just need to convert and update where necessary.

As of the start of the 2024 season, they have (club counts not including ALM NPL sides):
  1. NPL (14 clubs)
  2. VPL 1 (11 clubs)
  3. VPL 2 (12 clubs)
  4. VSL 1 (2 divisions of 12 clubs each)
  5. VSL 2 (2 divisions of 12 clubs each)
  6. VSL 3 (2 divisions of 12 clubs each)
  7. VSL 4 (4 divisions of 12 clubs each)
  8. VSL 5 (4 divisions, 2x 11 clubs, 2x 12 clubs)
From 2026, it will be changed to:
  1. NPL
  2. VPL 1
  3. VPL 2
  4. VSL 1 (2 divisions)
  5. VSL 2 (2 divisions)
  6. VSL 3 (2 divisions)
  7. VSL 4 (2 divisions)
  8. VSL 5 (2 divisions)
  9. VSL 6 (2 divisions)
  10. VSL 7 (2 divisions)
I will assume each division to be 12 clubs, so essentially means the same amount of clubs in the pyramid as now (technically is room for 2 more)

Womens structure will also change, appears to be same sort of thing - splitting SLW3, 4 and 4 (currently 4 divisions each) into 2 divisions each, and going down to SLW8
 
They should change the VSL Divs to 16 team comps imo.

Going by one image I saw, I think it will be 14 clubs down to VPL2, and 12 below that. But it wasn't the best illustration of pro\rel that I've seen 😵‍💫

IF that's the case, they'll be admitting a few clubs in then.

The way I'm reading the new structure, (which conveniently doesn't say how many clubs), 12 team leagues across the VSL will still work with the current amount of clubs, just spread out over more divisions
