Hopefully a club can use the facilities right? It'll be a waste for it to be demolished
Iron bark will be gobbled up in the next few months by 1-2 state league clubs in the area, no problem.. They are screaming out for pitches there ... you may even see Melbourne Vicotry gobble it up I reckon. As for the imaginary Werribee Wembley ... I doubt that ever gets built now.

That's fantastic. See after a storm a tiny little flower grows

I very much hope South succeed if this is the case.
I don't... It will kill off any momentum the Championship has....

Love or hate South Melbourne, if we go down the "easy path" of entry into the Aleague then its NOT fair to all the other clubs beneath us... I really HOPE we don't even entertain the idea but knowing the ambitions of the club we probably will :(

Mono, I understand your reservations, but if South come in the back door, I would still be delighted. It would be a first step to uniting the A League with the history of football in this country. It would be fantastic for the A League - but not Melbourne City, who would sink further into the swamp of irrelevance.

Having said that, would APL allow another club in central Melbourne even if South has the money?

Western United have done the A League immeasurable harm. Steve Horvat should hang his head in shame, and so should anyone at FFA involved in approving their licence.

An absolute disgrace. Only the players and coaching staff are blameless.
Just merge the pr1cks w/Macarthur and relocate the resulting entity to Tasmania already..💡

But of course as we all know, the APL is gravely allergic to anything even resembling commonsense😔

My understanding is none of the people involved are in charge any more?

I see what you are saying but again, I am strongly FOR ALL ships to rise... South, Preston, Sydney utd, Marconi, APIA, Wolves and ALL the original working group second divison clubs have done so much hard work over the past decade to get us to where we are now... I would be ashamed of MY club if we simply stepped away from the struggle, washed our hands and said "good luck guys, we're off to play in the closed off league now ... all the best" ....

here here !
I'll be absolutely livid if SMH went this woeful route ruining its brand let alone the club roots and supporter base.

I dont think it would "ruin our brand" mate, if anything the club will flourish in the ALeague... big crowds will come back to Lakeside... at least better crowds than WU and City - almost immediately.... If anything South may even cannibalise some Victory fans in the early days too... Problem is its like putting a bandaid on chainsaw (I should have said machete wound being in Melbourne eh?) wound.... after a while the same old issue swill creep in to the stagnant Aleague and this time around we wont be able to pivot and do anything about it...
I hope the board isn't short sighted enough to follow through with this, if it is I will certainly go and attend a few plastic matches over the summer but the "real" Hellas will be playing U23s in winter against Bergers, Knights and Preston... thats where Ill be mostly.

I suspect any move towards this ISN"T for us rusted on true fans keeping the lights on these past 20 years anyway, its for the 4-5K odd event goers that packed into Lakeside for the Preston match 2 x weeks ago and then went back to their tick tocks waiting for the next social media friendly match to come along before they show their heads again.

sure, just like every new club in the AL the honeymoon exists and we know that only lasts for so long.
I'm worried your board is short sighted for as we've seen what has been spiralling the last number of seasons and learning who's on the board.
Big concerns mate and knowing the APL is desparate to grab any fish worse to replace one that was rotten from the start they'll throw anything they can to your dodgy board.

what makes you say the South board is dodgy? Are you takaki? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Its a not for profit remember, they just wanna grow the club to be as big as it can ... we don't ALL agree 100% thats what a club is :)

I certainly hope SMH don’t join the A-League, we need to get the Championship up and running to have any chance of pro and semi football moving forward.
Many A-League clubs and the APL itself are on life support so for the Championship to fold before it even gets started would be a disaster. It would set the game back to pre NSL times.

I think it is in the APL's interest to invite 1-2 championship clubs to try and delay if not sink the championship becoming a home and away comp

doesn't mean they will mind you
