Triple M’s Marty Sheargold blasted over ‘disgusting’ Matildas comments

As you know I'm an ethnic too & have copped my fair share of racial abuse, especially in the 70s & 80s & also understand your issue in regards to racism towards your club.

But you cannot compare the abuse Sam Kerr got when she announced her partner's pregnancy on facebook, there is a deep seeded hatred of women's sport especially football in this country.

Fully understand women's sport, the level is not there, I mean Ariane Titmus's World swimming record is 15 sec behind Ian'Thorpe's time in 2001, that's half a pool. Serene Williams in her prime said Andy Murray would beat her 6-0 6-0 6-0, that is fact.

If people don't like women's sport, just look away.
 
Everyone is debating whether or not Sheargold’s comments were bad enough to warrant him being sacked. But I look at it in a completely different way.

It’s not what he said, but who he said it about. Our Matildas. They are the darlings of Australian sport and idolised by young girls. They are untouchable right now.

Sponsors are not going to put up with his comments, because young girls are undoubtedly a target demographic for many MMM sponsors.

As football fans, we should be doing cartwheels that the Matildas are having such a big impact on Australian society, and long may it continue.

Im FOR women's sport, I have a daughter, his comments where shithouse ....

The internet is full of people who hate stuff and then relentlessly post about it.

Usually with terms like 'ramming their woke philosophy down our throats' or 'used to push a progressive agenda'.

When asked to define what the phrases mean they go scurrying back under their rocks because, although it sounds edgy, they don't know what it actually means besides 'women are getting more attention than me'.

Disagree with 'the level is not there'. Every man in the 100m final would beat every woman in the same event. Does that mean 'they're not at the same level ' or simply men are bigger and stronger.

Do you place more value on a men's 100m victory over a woman's or are they both equal? Surely you can't suggest that the women's gold medalist at the Olympics is not as elite, dedicated, athletic and committed as her male counterpart.

They're bound by their biology and their physiology. That's not their fault and it doesn't make their achievements any less worthy.

I kinda agree with this. People stay stupid shit all the time and I don't listen to Triple M. If FakeNews didn't relentlessly report on it, I would have never noticed.

I think that is true for a lot of people.

My opinion is this: If you claim to be patriotic as Triple M and this bloke relentlessly claims to be, why are you shitting on an Australian team? Why are you tearing your own down? For a laugh?

I admittedly don't have much interest in women's sport. If they're interested in playing, good for them and if there's an avenue for them to play professionally then good for them also. At the same time, I have nothing but disdain for certain people who snidely imply that the only reason guys like me don't follow women's sport is because we're some kind of boorish misogynists with a micropenis who can't get laid.

Makes me wonder what the real motives are for a lot of these people's conspicuous support by comparison?

Mircopenis I like it.

We all like what we like & that to me should be widely entertained, people are different.
If you like the EPL, that is fine but why do you (not you) have to put sh!t on the A-League
If you like men's sport only, that is fine, why put sh!t on women's sport.

I don't particularly like AFL & may air my opinion on a Football forum, but I would never go to a AFL website to bag the sport because I know millions do like the sport.
