Unite Round

The unite rounds exists because Destination NSW paid for that grand final at Sydney all the time concept & the APL that scrapped it had to do something with the money. When the 3 years that they paid for are over the "unite" round will disappear into the ether.

I feel like it'll continue if someone stumps up the money. But whether anyone stumps up the money is another matter.

oh so are we on a macrame forum ? :) come on Sutho you know full well where we are and you quoted professional sport.
My reply was at his dig that the A league will die if no one throws money at it. And I said “ like any professional sport “ . I don’t see the problem here, nothing about pyramids .

meow to you too pussycat.

Again, there are countries around the world that manage to have a healthy football ecosystem on a smelly rag budget... not because they want to (who doesnt want money right?) but because they dont have a choice.. and yet they manage to exisit and thrive..... . we ALSO have a choice but you all want airconditioned hospitality suites and Grimace doing the coin toss .... .

Meow was a typo, rectified.

The ones you mention ( smelly rag ) are countries steeped in Football, with no other competition to drain the money.

I guess you will only be happy, when we have a semi pro pyramid system played on public parks.

Out of interest, were you banging on the internet about promotion and relegation in the NSL days ?

The internet was (at least my access to it) through a dial up modem during NSL days mate, get a grip.... And yes, to answer your question, I have very much been calling for pro/rel since before the NSL was euthanized.... No I dont want a semi pro pyramid playing on public parks (No need to have a go at Victory's training facilities btw) .. I want a system of meritocracy where ALL clubs can have the ability to better their clubs to reach a point where we have dozens upon dozens of professionally run and funded clubs NOT just 11 in Australia. I believe seeding franchises here and there with capital injections from disinterested foreign owners looking ONLY to make a ROI isn't the way to do it... and must say Im suprised you do....

In fairness to the APL, there is a fair bit of bad luck this year with the state of Leichhardt Oval and now train strikes. On the positive side, apart from the Sydney Derby, this will be so poorly attended and embarrassing that both the change of venue and train strikes can be blamed (and no one will know it was always going to be poorly attended).
