Unite Round

We are an event city and the SOO is a big event. I'll allow it. AFL should have never scraped their SOO series. Would have been huge.
yes I recall in the media the days of the afl origin games Vic players vs SA and WA ? players.

Another thing came to my mind re the afl/nrl "unite kind of rounds etc" these 2 ingrained games here supporters are used to seeing the best players week in week out - no other mid week games etcetc.
So many plan their days to attend in advance - both Winter comps as well !
Us Football supporters have so many opportunities to watch games 24/7 compared to those 2 codes.
"Live" - how many games can us guys/gals watch through the week from EU/Spain/Latin merica you name it, we have a motza to view as well as tuning in the local scene winter pre season till late Aug/Sept.
Summer football as the APL suit some but - Saturday night games how many people have other commitments and daytime many are outdoor luvers the beach/bbq's and other family outings.
Your right Event city/s - though football doesn't need gimmicks but MLS/APL.

This. Not only are we robbed of a home game but they make it impossible for most to watch. Unite my arse.

No vote from me if this is the best they can do.
You were not " robbed " of a home game. This was an extra round added to the schedule.

Yeah I know mate but thats just the thing of the thousands that would go and see the state of origin only a handful. will go and watch the Storm play the following week... sport lemmings go where they are told to go because its an event.... This unite round, clearly wasnt even enough of an "event" to do that.... Even the "aleague till I die" "don't have a club I follow I just love the APL and the Aleague as a whole" crwod couldn't be bothered going..... why would the sport lemmings?

Mate, they dont even know what they are watching half the time... it doesnt have anything much to do with "quality" its just ingrained to follow a club throuhg thick and thin.

Mates I know who are real footy heas tell me this era is the worse its ever been skillwise.

You'll get way less crowds because only Adelaide benefits. Having it in Sydney makes sense because five teams can drive there

In a city that has a shortage of events (especially compared to Melbourne or Sydney), i think you'd get a lot more casuals going. Especially as Hindmarsh is so easy to get to. It'll look aesthetically better on TV as well.

Not having it at all makes even more sense.

I reckon it'll stay and I'll tell you why...

1. The APL needs money and they will try to flog this off to the highest bidder.
2. Assuming we expand to 14 teams next year, that means 26 rounds, and the APL will want that extra game to satisfy the AFC.

SOO doesn't work in the AFL because more than 2 states play the game. If the NRL ever developed players outside of NSW and QLD, that would affect their SOO as well... luckily for them there is no threat of that happening in our lifetimes.

No the NRL has the Pacific Islands, New Zealand & England plus the 2 states.
AFL only has the 4 states, including Tassie

WA, SA, VIC, NSW, QLD thats five states mate, PLUS future Tassie - not to mention regular games in ACT and NT. I get your hatred but don't let the truth get in the way of a good dig :)

What percentage of Kiwi’s and Pacific islanders play in the NRL? Serious question because I don’t know and assume Rugby is the primar code in all of those countries.

To hate something, you must have some sort of feeling for it, I have none for AFL. AFL is not that big in NSW & QLD, football is much bigger.

Wrong, AFL games in QLD and NSW smash the A-League ratings on TV - same with crowd numbers.

See you talk A-League I talk football, Football is far bigger than just A-League, if ever you in Sydney AFL the sport does not compare to Football.
