The last AFCON was great to see a lot of newer sides break through. I don't have an African team as such. I didn't grow up with Italia 90 so I get the Cameroon love but I've never really like Cameroon for some reason.

Nigeria just don't fulfil their potential at world cups. Egypt are something of a lame duck. I don't mind Ivory Coast when they're playing attractively. Australia has actually faced South Africa more than ever other team. Our history with Ghana makes them feel like an African rival. Mali are underwhelming despite the names they have.

I'm from Zimbabwe, so naturally that's my African team, but just like everything in Zim, the football has fallen to shit. We had some decent players and a good set up at one point.

I don't follow any nor a pref but watch with interest when tournaments are on.
The amount of top players produced is interesting obviously to the many who play/played in the EPL.
Senegal mentioned, well a fav is/was Mane, Ivory Coast wow Drogba just to name a couple.
Morocco mentioned of late what a last WC run.

Zimbos in other discussions mentioned what a mess developing/leagues are if I recall right is amazing what comes out of there.
Imagine IF they had their shit together how many nations would be right up there challenging the usual EU NT's.

Used to be into South Africa a decade or so ago when I dated a girl from there but haven't been into the AFCON since.

Only team I somewhat ever followed was Ivory Coast and that was only when Zaha made an appearance.
