Which Book Are You Reading thread

Instead of starting a thread about the possibility of starting a thread, why didn't you just call this thread "Which book are you reading?", post the book(s) you're currently reading and see how the thread goes?
That seems like a much simpler option.

For the record;
My favourite authors are Stephen King (I'm more a fan of his storytelling abilities in general - not specifically his horror stories) and Harry Turtledove (his World War/Civilisation series is my all-time favourite book series and gets a re-read from me about every 5 years).

Currently reading: "The woman who went to bed for a year" by Sue Townsend. Found it at a 2nd hand store, title was intriguing. It's amusing enough, although I dare say it's target audience would be middle aged women.
Great, you are interested?

This has occurred a bit more quickly than I thought it would. I've only just contacted Pasquali about it.

If it gets going, and we have authors doing Q and A on books, (I'm mates with three), I intend to recruit a lot of female posters from another forum, which is quite restrictive about rules.

I looked up the richest authors in the world. Stephen King came in at 9th, John Grisham at 10th.

J K Rowlings/ Robert Galbraith is easily 1st - worth a billion dollars!

I haven't read any of the 2nd to 8th richest, and have only read one Grisham book, but have read all of of Galbraith's Strike series - brilliant!

Have never read Stephen King - yet. What do you you find so attractive about him? He is incredibly popular.

YES PLEASE .... I read the Axis of Time trilogy by John Birmingham and really liked it.... Similar sort of premise minus the aliens ... think relatively believable future tech plopped in the middle of the battle of Midway .. Hitler with an ipad reading about the bunker sort of thing .... pretty cool.

John Birminghan is a renowned kids' author. I've read a lot of them as a teacher to young kids. Just can't remember their themes?

Didn't realise he wrote books for adults?

Dinner table conversation revolved around historical conflicts... you know the same old "nobody can invade Russia, the winters are too harsh" thing, then
"what that does to the "psyche" of the Russian people"?.
How does it come across in art, architecture and literature ?.... "
Oh I should ready War and Peace again ...
lets start of with something more "fun" the story of a fallen women :)

Told you "don't ask" hahahahahaahah
I became interested in this topic - after viewing War And Peace.

Was Anna K a victim?

On topic though:

Since getting out of school, I’ve found fiction books hard to read (mostly) and have really only read The Hunger Games series since, so am looking forward to the second prequel book soon.

Generally just sports biographies for me. I have a few I’ve been meaning to hunt down, but my standouts are:
  • Life on the Limit - Professor Sid Watkins, which is a book written in the late 90’s by the longtime Formula 1 head doctor (who since retired and passed on). His 2000s follow up is one of my aforementioned books I’ve been meaning to hunt down
  • How to Build a Car - Adrian Newey
  • I can’t remember the name, but Postecoglu’s book was great
  • The Secret Footballer series was also enlightening

I have terrible taste - I link Raymend E Feist but admit its trash fantasy :D.

I'm also working through a free copy of my mate's book Why? By professor Phillip Goff which is a lay book on recent philosophical developments about fine tuning, consciousness etc

It is very common for males to only read non-fiction. Heaps of my male mates do.

Most women who are mates, love fiction.

What will get people interested is adding football books in a thread. I've read heaps - including Ange's book which is upstairs. I just wonder if the football books should be a thread in the football section, because I doubt a lot of my fiction bookreading pals will be interested on here?

I want to read neil Gorman's death and life of australian football. Left some hints with relatives about a birthday present :D

Same question as for Petsk?

What attracts you to this incredibly popular author, Mono!
Mainly language and structure of his stories... VERY easy to read in 2-3 sittings and the story moves very fast.... I guess he is popular because it is easily digestible and, if you like strange horror, very entertaining....

You're welcome.. I know it cant be easy being on hormone blockers like V02 Max or whatever so happy for you to discuss you're transition to whatever it is you are trying to become...
Two genders.

But about 16 in here.

This is your safe space.
