Japan's issue is now working out their best team. Idiots of socials saying we're playing their B team don't understand that many of these would slot in easily despite the bigger names. Big nations have struggled to accommodate the names while the team is a mix of A and B.

I'm just so annoyed we've given the ball away so much. Popovic can't be defended by saying this is his plan even though it seems obvious.

None of this is really to the point. Our biggest problem is that we don't pick our best team - not even close.

For me we need to stack the mid a bit more. Like Japan they have a fulcrum and can spread it quickly.

Scary camera view as it shows how Japan linger away from the marker. O'Neill has been complacent garbage and Teague has had one or two alright moments.

I reckon we'd be better with Yazbek out there. Criminal we don't have our other midfield options to use. I'd love to have Triantis, Luongo, Ballard, Robertson to look to.

Players dotted all over Europe would at least be playing at a higher level than the Z-league and picking up better habits and coaching. I don't think we'd be worse off at all.
 
Given the amount of possession we have given up we defended pretty well.
The Japanese press is so strong, and they have been very good putting just the maximum amount of physicality on the press without fouling.

Going forward has been non existent. Granted it's only match seven with the team, but you know they are coming with the high press, would like to have an better solutions.

There is a reason the Japanese coach is talking about winning the world cup. Quality and depth is unreal.

to be honest if we had a 26+ round nyl with some colt sides included, and underage squads from the start of the a league we definitely would be in a better place
 
Look if we get a point out of this after that performance - we’re almost laughin’

Just for reference, a draw tonight AND a loss to Saudi Arabia still sees us qualify unless:
  • Saudi Arabia defeats Bahrain tonight
OR
  • Saudi Arabia draws with Bahrain AND Saudi Arabia defeat us by 5 or more goals
OR
  • Indonesia wins both of their games against China and Japan
(I think I have the scenarios right there)

The players who have missed out are marginally better at best. They are not changing the quality difference between the two sides.
 
Boyle off. Presume Metcalfe will go right now. Should be better in midfield but suspect still isolated forward.
