World Cup Qualification Thread for 2026 - Socceroos/Asia

A draw would be a miracle. Then maybe Bahrain does us a favour. That seems to be the absolute best we can hope for.

That's one bloke. In any case the A League teams towel up the NSL sides almost every time they meet in the Australia cup.

I'm not saying the A league is a roaring success, it clearly isn't, but you're dreaming if you think the NSL supplanting it would make Australian football better overall.

Look if we get a point out of this after that performance - we’re almost laughin’

Just for reference, a draw tonight AND a loss to Saudi Arabia still sees us qualify unless:
  • Saudi Arabia defeats Bahrain tonight
OR
  • Saudi Arabia draws with Bahrain AND Saudi Arabia defeat us by 5 or more goals
OR
  • Indonesia wins both of their games against China and Japan
(I think I have the scenarios right there)
Going to tack onto this, a draw tonight AND a draw against Saudi will only see us fail to qualify if Indonesia defeat China and Japan by a collective 13 goals. Saudi Arabia will be automatically below us regardless

I think he’s just saying we are no where more than anything and against a B team who don’t even need to score but to play ball all around us Muz.
That is the state of our talent pool despite Poppa selections.
We are being shown where we are as much as I hate saying this

The point is vital as Indonesia are hovering menacingly...
