World news and politics.

Both extremely shit countries with a lot of terrible people in them.

I have been to a lot of countries, and I'd say Iranians were probably the most friendly of anywhere I have been. And they overwhelmingly do not support their regime.

you can say that about anywhere you travel to mostly.
I have charted countless places as well and people come to know are fantastic, far far more welcoming than us aussies got to say.
Incl the ME, most of their general pop dislike their leaders, the Saudi/Kuwaiti/Qatarans/UAE/Egypt/Iran/Isreal/Oman/Libya people I have come to know are chalk and cheese what you read and the politics,

you'll find that with anyone who has left their country

I am talking about the people on the street there, once you spend 5 minutes with them, they tell you how much they hate their government despite the personal danger to them. I have not found that in many other places with questionable governments, sizeable porprotions still support them.

Of course. They are great people, but their is a significant and undeniable percentage that supports what the regime does and the philosophy.

From personal experience, I have found the opposite, but maybe it's the people I know or met. Compare them with Israelis is chalk and cheese, most people with links to Israel would be happy to see the end of people in Palestine for example.

These are just my own personal experiences though as I said.

an immediate family member went to Iran a few years back and noted all the posters of soldiers martyred all over the place... defending Syria from ISIS and Al Qaeda. They knew they'd be next if Syria fell, and so it has proven to be. They might not love their government but they certainly don't want to be rolled by the collective west.

Well yes they’re in a catch 22.

They hate their rulers but they don’t want their country bombed and the change to come at the hands of netenyahu. They’re fucked either way.

Side question: Has Netanyahu dragged Trump into this WMD style?
