Curriculum is what you teach, discrimination is prejudice based on a person's race or religion. You can teach religious education as long as it aligns with curriculum. You shouldn't be making decisions based on a person's skin colour or religion

I know of 4 Jewish teachers at one Islamic college
It's not in the media's interest but thee examples should be promoted more and more. Positive examples every day.

I am not religious at all, quite the opposite. But I have had a couple of girlfriends over the years who were muslims, I have nothing else to add besides that shit anecdote.

Yes I am. It's abhorrent in 2025 ffs. Abhorrent. And stop demeaning the plight of these LGBTQi communities as oh god nor this again....it's disgraceful.

They have experienced horrendous bigotry and been more marginalised than perhaps any group of people across the entire planet.
I'm not demeaning their plight. I've been apart of many same-sex initiatives and groups that have fought for their cause.

You are just caught up on this idea that if Hamas don't support it, then they don't deserve to rule. That's not the issue. The issue is the fucking genocide. Until the apartheid and genocide ends (which has been going on longer than 70 years) everything else is moot. When Palestine is free, it is up to their people to elect their government and choose their laws.

Now if you care so much about it, perhaps go fight for the cause of LGBTQI+ people whose rights are denied daily in Africa, south America, Asia, even parts of the USA

Big Daddy Kane with nothing else to add......

I thought you Hip Hop artists like to opine on everything?

From social issues to political commentary and cultural observations....its a defining characteristic of the genre??

I'm disappointed....

If this thread has become a bin fire, what would it be as a football score?

It's why I barely comment on anything to do with the middle east.

I will say this though, I don't know many middle eastern muslims but the ones I've come across from Indo, Malaysia and Singas, where I lived for 3 years, are perfectly normal and lovely people.

The dramas seem to stem from the extremists but that's also true for Christian evangelicals. Both lots are right off their chops.

Well then I stand corrected because the two colleges in Melbourne that I have friends with kids at tell me that all of their teachers MUST be Muslim.. I dont know first hand so I want argue if thats the case.

A friend of mine used to work at a wedding reception place with alot of weddings of people of the Islamic faith. Let's just say the more heavily covered the more freaky they are...

I know of the schools you speak of. I know of what you mention. I'm aware of conversations being held to change this narrative. There was a case where a non-muslim teacher was in one of these schools and refused to allow kids out of class for prayer and she accused them of being of their period so didn't have to pray.

Could'n't agree more with this... BUT if the government they choose has an agenda of wiping out another neighbouring nation based on their religion or political ideology, then ALL nations should condemn them no?

It wasn't an attempt at a "gottcha" I am all for Muslim, Catholic, independent Christian schools or whatever to be able to operate within the laws of Australia.... If Muslim schools are allowing non-Muslim educators that is in fact very pleasing to me to hear... I went to a Christian school as do my kids and we had Hindu, Jewish and in my case two Muslim teachers.... never phased me. even a couple of (ftou ftou Athesists) . hahahahahah

Don't bring what's happening in Europe and making like it happens here. I don't know the European cases you speak of because never heard of them. However, you're doing exactly what you claim not to be. You're spreading dear workout justification. You're generalising a whole people based on one incident in a different continent.

Doesn't matter if they have weight or not. That's a personal choice. Just because you choose to follow a less religious path, doesn't mean everyone should. Fortunately I don't have to anymore, but I'm my previous career I worked every Christmas, new year, Easter, so my colleagues could have that time off with their family. I never questioned how religious they were. I just respected their holiday. You not respecting ours is bigotry
I suggest you do a bit of reading into how Europe currently is. Australia needs to be careful not to end up in the same predicament. Europe is full of parallel societies. I don't know if you've travelled but European cities these days aren't the postcards of the past.

I went to an Afghan wedding once and the groom apologised to all of us (non-Muslims) because he couldnt serve alcohol.... Then they brought out the the argyle, one on every table, packed with the heaviest hash Iv ever smelled... the whole reception centre was ripped within minutes... its was wild......

Oh god, this again.

I don't know because I'm not Hamas. Same-sex marriage is prohibited in many non Muslim countries at the moment too, are you in uproar at that
These are the exact deflections I hate. Refusal to answer when fronted. Being gay is straight up illegal never mind marriage.

I lived in Europe for two years. Australia has the opportunity of learning from Europe. Europe has rampant immigration.

My biggest problems with people when living in Europe came from other Europeans, not Asians or Africans.

I'm not deflecting. He keeps bringing this up like I have a day on it. Ok, so Hamas define being gay as illegal. Can I do anything about it? No. Is it a bigger concern than the genocide and apartheid? No.

Being gay is illegal in many democratic countries. Heck, many of our politicians oppose it too. He just keeps bringing it up like I have the answer to this question, or that it is a justifiable way to negate the apartheid and genocide that has existed for more than 70 years.

Doesn't involve Israel so no point in marching. The perpetually outraged at one group just wouldn't have the energy, right? As we learned in another thread, you can't protest everything...

There have been British Arabs who don't want a bar of these protests in disgust that it's more about destroying Israel than actually caring about Palestine.
