Being gay is illegal in many democratic countries. Heck, many of our politicians oppose it too. He just keeps bringing it up like I have the answer to this question, or that it is a justifiable way to negate the apartheid and genocide that has existed for more than 70 years.

It's a war that Israel has constantly refused to end by rejecting every UN resolution. It's a war they started with their systemic displacement of the people who welcomed them in. The Zionists started this when they ethnically cleansed Palestinian villages and then occupied the leftover land that was meant to be for a Palestinian state post-1948.

You would be very naive to think that this conflict does not affect you or have any impacts on you as a citizen of Australia. Australia is intrinsically linked to Israel in so many ways. Israel is so heavily invested in our economy and we as a nation continue to fund and support their regime.

Why would a pro-Palestine protest be denouncing Hamas in the same breath? Do you see Pro Israel protests denouncing zionism or Netanyahu? Do you ask them to? Always asking of pro-Palestinians the things you'll never ask of anybody else.

Muslims have for a long time been distancing themselves from these extremist groups that false utilise religion at their forefront. As soon as you use that word, it conflates Islam with extremism, and that's exactly what those who peddle it want you to think.

My issue is there is a massive failure to look inwards, the combining of incompatible beliefs and cultures are only harming once cohesive societies and people would have to be blind not to see it in every aspect of society. Australia is thankfully still in better stead but Europe is teetering and it'll be nearly gone in one generation.

I've lived in a society that's meant to be "incompatible" for my whole life. I don't practice a watered down version of my religion. I always look inward, but will never compromise on my core beliefs. So in order for your society to be cohesive, I need to be out of it. Gotcha.

I don't think that you don't belong in society. You can definitely argue and make a clear case point. It is evident that the educated, a privilege for many, can conduct their religion is a positive and peaceful way. Education isn't the antidote but those susceptible to extremism have a multitude of causes. What I'm saying is there are extreme elements across many religious and political ideas, not always necessarily new, which are forming a lot of cracks at well established places since the horrors of WW2.

These challenges are only compounded by the addition of views considered foreign to the place and throws so much into question and confusion. Japan struggles at having black athletes or even people in their society, a special case to be fair. Europe is trying to manage an influx of young Arabs, some who have adapted well but a lot who have misbehaved and need to be sent back. Turkey had an influx of Syrians and got very pissed off. Colombia is dealing with Venezuelans.

Unfortunately the common denominator is often young muslim males. Instead of trying to make sense of it to work towards solutions, shields get put up and discussion gets quashed. A big 'leave us alone and we have nothing to do with you'. This is in the new country. Molenbeek is one example. Certainly politicians need to be blamed for how terribly they've handled things across the board. Ideally the educated from such faiths and places can help to clarify and work towards viable solutions for a more cohesive society.

Yes, undoubtedly but just to add a slight caveat, the 'savages' in Israel always seem to be that little bit more under the microscope than other 'savages' accused of savagery...

As an example many states including some democracies have used extreme methods in their counterinsurgency and counterterrorist campaigns.

And from an historical perspective in our region.

Having invaded and annexed East Timor in 1975, Indonesia’s counterinsurgency regularly killed or massacred civilians with deaths exceeding 10 percent of the population by the time the region was granted independence in 1999 the stark population loss was replaced by Indonesian migrants who formed a new ruling elite....

Similar events unfolded in West Papua where, following Indonesia’s seizure of the territory from the Dutch, fighting has been ongoing since 1965. Indiscriminate civilian killings have probably amounted to 5-10 percent of the native Melanesian population. Migrants brought in from other parts of Indonesia have again formed a new elite...

And in this age of social media, it seems that many people are discovering for the first time what modern warfare is actually like. Independent of the rightness or wrongness of any cause, enormous numbers of innocent people die. The Allies killed hundreds of thousands of German civilians in World War II. And hundreds of thousands of Japanese civilians along with them. How would that have looked on TikTok?

Of course, the loss of civilian life in Gaza is absolutely tragic. And nothing I’m saying here is meant to minimize the horror of it. But there always seems to be an ulterior motive to criticism of Israel’s savagery misdeeds in comparison to other's committing similar offences.....

But then the hatred of Jews, Judaism, and Israel is hardly a new phenomenon either, it didn't start on October 7th and it didn't start in 1948.

Perhaps its because you will very often hear Israel described as a colonial or imperialist entity, and Israelis as settler-colonialists. And in this current environment where colonialism is reviled, for good reason, Israel is seen as one opportunity for a colonial construct to be dismantled. In this narrative, Israelis/Jews are seen as the colonisers and their power judged as white supremacy, even if Jews have existed there for thousands of years and many are not always white. And Israel’s demise could be a triumph for decolonisation efforts.....

And added to that we've all heard the conspicuous conspiracy theories perpetrated by various strands of the political sphere about Jews in general and how they control the world.....
