A-League Men 24/25 - Round 8

I disagree. It needs (a) proper owners who actually care about the performance of their clubs (both on and off field). How some of the clubs are being run is a disgrace (b) proper coverage in key markets. Removing professional teams from Brisbane, Perth, Newcastle or Central Coast will provide no benefit to the game and (c) the return to a centralised governance model, with a proper FA board of those with influence in the corporate and media world (i.e. when Lowy ran it professionally and not the current APL) (d) the removal of Federations and their control over the FA.
Can't expects the owners to care if there is no accountability on the field, if you add the pro-rel component then teams that perform well get rewarded and the teams that don't perform get punished.

The current system more than anything rewards mediocrity, when you put pressure teams and the owners they are forced to review every decision they make so its a right one them depending on their status I feel the current structure doesnt do that.

Yep Auckland look to be very good this year, credit to Steve Corica he looked like he run out of ideas when he was at Sydney so its good he can show he can make a new team from scratch and get results, their set pieces were very good a shame both goalkeepers made headlines for the wrong reasons with howlers.

Good to see another Aussie attacker score on the weekend, Melb City could have an interesting academy in the future given the resources and knowledge from the Man City group.

Talay playing with no midfield and Sydney conceding 4 goals. Problem is Sydney don't have any defensive midfielders to stop the goal leakage. Scoring 3 is fine but no one is winning a football match is you're conceding more. Talay in a bit of a spot moving forward I suspect.
Playing with no No.6 (Sena was on the bench though) looked to be a bad idea given how many times Western would attack Sydney's back 4 with ease, they also played through their press well so Sydney have issues they need to address if they want to play a high pressing game.

Agree. And I don't understand how AFL and NRL fans completely ignore this. They actually barrack for their team to lose to get better draft picks and easier fixtures. Zero sporting integrity, and the fans couldn't care less about that.
Do WE really want to copy that rubbish?

Because those sports don’t have a reference point to look up to whilst football has, it also shows how insular Australia (in general) can be when it comes how they view sport.

Two popular codes that aren’t play much if not all globally reflects that that thinking and I can understand why football has fallen into trap for a long time thinking it needs to be like them.

Just watched Zadcovitch's presser. He needs to go. If the best he can conjure up is to tell his players to call for medical assistance then he cannot possibly coach. Yes the owners (or the GM) should pull the plug on his career.

The bloke is a complete numbskull.

Probably the highlight of his career was when his father had a meltdown and publicly threatened everyone on socials to lay off his son or he'll start suing. Blimey, what a pelican.

The latter part of your point only happens in Aussie rules.

When one sees quality players like Piscopo, Talbot and Zane Schreiber for City, Atalee and Kane Vidmar for West U, Joel King, all on the bench for other clubs, and one sees Glory struggling, this sextet are far too good not to be playing regular football. If only they could play for Perth?

I think the Sydney press wasn't there at all. We were watching on the sideline and noted that Western counter attacking from the back took 4-5 passes to completely get through the Sydney front/middle men and be at the Sydney 18 yard box with ease.
