A-League Men 24/25 - Round 10

Just a heads up, Paramount + Works perfectly well outside of Australia, set to Australia with your VPN.

I think you are the only one apart from the crap referee team who thinks it is a red. Three ex players on TV are gobsmacked that it was.

If they can explain what 'intent' has to do with anything AT ALL I'll listen.

Here's Machach with his foot on the ball and studs down. Here's also Courtney-Perkins going in with HIS studs up, kicks the ball from under Machach's foot.

And the frame after that.

Majority saying it's a harsh call. I get where they're coming from. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Machach and players in general need to know better these days. Players should commit to duels but pulling back is also part of smarts.

Game is so fast and it's hard to assess angles but this one was a classic where the risk was high.

So if your foot is on the ball and someone kicks it out from under you, it's your fault? Kinda like standing on a highway and blaming the car that hits you haha.

Look I'm not saying its not harsh, it probably is. But it's like trying to win the ball with a high foot and accidentally collecting the bloke in the chest. No intent but still reckless and dangerous and a red.

Yeah, I can see how they've given it a red... I just feel it lacks understanding of the play in question. Machach wins the ball first, Courtney-Perkins flies in studs up and gets to the ball 2nd, hence it's knocked out from under Machach.

Without any feel for the game, it's a red. I thought Jon Moss was meant to fix that.

Fair enough but if you ask me the player going in the way he did with his back half turned was asking for trouble. That was a dumb way to try and win that ball.

I've had words on the run with blokes that go in arse first.

Thoughts @NicCarBel

I understand what you are told to interpret by your higherups, but surely if you are an ex player, you can decide for yourself.

If you want consistency, which everyone says they do, then you go with what they've said. Particularly at that level or they're dropped.

I would have probably given a yellow because at speed that's way too hard to see properly.

I yellow carded a player only to see on video he got him halfway up the calf. That's how it goes. Sometimes you get them, sometimes you don't.
