And rightly so.

Greens have come out with a decent proposal for negative gearing. Grandfather it and get rid of it. (Well limit it to one property.)

I'm hoping there's a minority government so they can push this through.
All the talk of cutting of negative gearing/capital gains only ever seems to relate to property, specifically residential property. I’m curious as to whether the Greens (in this instance) are also planning on including other investments such as commercial property, shares, etc in their proposals, or if they don’t even realise other investment options even exist.

I haven't read their policy documents on this but this was in relation to a question asked to Bandt about housing.

Edit: Just did a quick google.

Seems yes. Although I've only skim read it. (Trying to finish a report tonight.)

It’s not clear why the last sentence is there and what it means with respect to other assets.

“The changes only apply to investment properties.”

This seems to contradict the earlier sentence about capital gains for other assets having cost bases indexed. Or are they going to continue to allow negative gearing for other assets?

Yeah I read that too. Seems odd and ambiguous. Like I said I only skim read it but 'investment properties' could include commercial and industrial property. Granted it makes no mention of shares.

Have to dig a bit deeper but I have to go to bed. 10 more minutes on this bloody report.

Heading out hunting yellowfin tuna in the morning. Yewww.

Here's the thing about the Greens. Nearly everyone whinges about the big two and says they're all the same and all equally shit but when you say well why not vote for the Greens they look at you like you have 2 heads.

Give 'em a go I reckon. Can't do any worse.

I suspect people would look at you like that anyway

you'd fit right in to one of their party meetings

Tariffs paused for 90 days on most countries but China's pushed up.

Bloody markets have shot up again. Annoying as I was a few days away from my next pay ins which are feeless vs individual trades.

Still, this has led to businesses already jacking up their prices. They won't go back down...

The greens destroyed Germany in 4 years. Sheer incompetence. I get the other two are also shit but green parties are so wound up in their ideology that they'll sacrifice the middle class and below and just shrug their shoulders.

Almost like all politicians only care about themselves

Can unhappily report back from 1200m deep waters off the shelf this morning that I did, in fact, kill no fish today.

Though whenever I bring home a big fuck off fish the wife says 'aw poor fish'.

'Poor fish'?! That bastard killed 50 thousand little fish to get that size. If anything I'm doing baitfish a favour. You could call me an eco-warrior.

That's fine but then the commentary about the 'major' parties being shit needs to settle down a bit.

If you keep voting the same mobs in all the time then nothing will ever change so stop whinging.

On negative gearing and capital gains tax reform alone the Greens are miles out in front of the other 2.

Even though capital gains tax reform would directly affect me I think it's a price worth paying. I want my kids to have a chance, like we did, to own a home. It's getting ridiculously out of control for young people.

Go to a lot of their meetings do you? Speaking from experience?

true 2 wrongs don't make a right but that other crowd are not leading types at the same time.
Enviromentalists is a great cause to stand behind but politics and policy isn't their game but fell into it.
Maybe they should stand on their own then we'll see how in front they are or not.

Re the property cap gains scenario..
The biggest issue is/has been the OS investor from 20+yrs back.
I recall being at auctions that they'd be bidding through brokers/agents 2/3/500k more than average market price I viewed was worth, still carries on today.
Fair enough being out bid but at those levels its been OTT for years,
They are the main culprit that started the rise of over inflated house prices and to this day more than locals and their portfolios who in the end help their kids in the current climate most case's due to this outcome.
Why I lol'd at that pussy foreign ban till '27.
Why be light footed which is typical of our Gov today, put the foot down forever on local house foreign investment and watch the market subside in time to reasonable levels reachable for our own.
Oh we don't want to offend our neighbours but we don't have the same reciprocal rights.
Donkeys this country is, fight for our land rights, produce and Exports but people carry on about small minded local issues ffs.

Its not getting ridiculously out of control Muz it is.
Labour Lib are both mugs for decades and no Independant/Teal/green nor minority Gov is any hope for the better as well.
The more mix the more resistance, more debating, more royal commisions, you want more red tape in this most red taped country on the planet ?!
Place gone to the weeds due to pathetic weak governance for decades.
You cannot please everybody, its impossible.
Christ I'm going to hate having posted this.

The biggest myth about the Greens Party is that their central policy platform is environmentalism.
They couldn't give a fuck about the environment, that's just a hook to get buy in from noob uni kids and middle aged low information types like Muz.

So there is a non football related section here as well?

Why bother? We are doomed as a species.

We have either passed the point of no return, or, if we have not, we will not do anything substantial about the environment before its too late.
