Things we would like to see in season 25/26

It's a tough one. Let's say NSW gov decided to extend the deal. Currently it's $4m per year. That money goes to the APL. However the side effect is that any interstate 'home' teams get reduced ticket sales for their 'home' game because the game is not at home and fans have demonstrated they are reluctant to travel for this round. With 5 NSW teams, that side effect can be reduced if the round is held in NSW, however if they sell it to another state then it's worse.
That being said, I'd be fine with it if the bulk of that $4m is distributed evenly direct to the clubs, or if they were to donate the lot to a worthy charity.
Remember it is an " EXTRA ROUND" not part of the home and away, so ticket sales are irrelevant.

I get where you're coming from, it was an extra round, however the 'home' team still takes the share of ticket sales, so it's not completely irrelevant.
However, the discussion is probably largely irrelevant as it is only worth doing if there is gov funding. Without it, I'd say things just return to how they were. If Canberra are added then a home/away season would mean each team plays 26 games, which is the same as what it was this season.

Unite round isn't really football though our whole thing is home vs away it's why three teams playing at aami park don't work either.

Unite Round should be used as a "goodwill" tour. Like Aus Cup hosting matches at the lower tier grounds.

Queensland is a good call. Could easily host matches at Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Ipswich, Townsville, Cairns, Mackay, Rockhampton, Bundaberg. Have football north, south and central.

Eddy McGuire to head the APL and the game to become more appealing to the mainstream, goalposts tweaked to suit a more "Australian" public. Eventual amalgamation into then AFL.

Hehe about right with all these fellas going on about theme rounds etc
I just want bloody P/R football without all the bs !

The fact that p&r is the only thing that will allow for growth and longevity of our failing professional game, but that there are thise that vehemently still argue against it (for their own reasons) still dumbfounds me!

Haha 😜 😀
You guys need to stop looking to follow the other codes as you can tell from my pov.
I actually think you don’t get it having been caught up with the Lowy crap onwards and convinced it’s the metrics and all

I think relegation would fold pretty much every club. Without any cultural imprint why would anyone bother? They would serve no purpose.

which is why my plan would work best

lets face it, this country produced better footballers during the period when the national league was semi-professional (not that the current national league is anything like a full time league, but the wages are)
