G&G FC Podcast: #14 – Tom Byer on Japan's Football Revolution

Me too - go out with a ball. Jumpers for goal posts if a proper field can't be found.
yep, the good ol KISS principle - the ol steel bins did the trick as goal posts - step up from jumpers etc haha......

the pressure on parents to be protective is immense. We got warned recently when we took a walk around the block with our 2.5 year old (leaving our 8 and 10 year old at home for 15 minutes) that child protective services don't look kindly at that

I think it's bad for the kids long term mental health as well as putting more pressure on parents. The pressure on parents these days is one of the major causes of plummeting birth rates
If I recall right your living in the UK ?

There's alot to unbundle regards to parenting today I won't go there......
I feel for you compared to the amazing freedoms we had growing up through the 70's.
My wife started getting over protective re our boys growing up, be it riding push bikes fast, scooters etc, always thinking of the worst, I was the typical Dad, they learn from mistakes, IF they are out at park kicking ball with mates, relax.
Doesn't apply today very sad.

In sum total, I'd like to think that the bulk of football fans appreciate the newfound technical prowess of Japan. I've learned heaps from this podcast.

Maybe for political and historical reasons some don't appreciate Japanese football, but the improvement should be admired in pure football terms.

I've enjoyed this Tom Byer Podcast as much as any. Grazor has done a good job with his questions too.

It certainly enhances the reputation of G and G. Well done to all involved!
