World Cup Qualification Thread for 2026 - Socceroos/Asia

I am a huge Grant supporter, being a SFC fan, huge tank in his day, but even I think he is passed it. Miller doesn't fill me with confidence either.

yer we're in trouble either way, Grant at this level will get found out as we expect and Miller doesn't know which way he's going at times haha
Lord help us

I dislike this squad - two many mediocrities included and too many creatives excluded - but going with what we have (and the likelihood of Irvine to be captain), I'm hoping for...

Gauci
Geria, Souttar, Burgess, Bos
Balard, Irvine
Vellupillay, McGree, Borello
Yengi

At least there's a bit of pace and a few scoring avenues.

That is a pretty decent side, I like it, but agree with some players in squad that left me scathing my head.

Just watched the Bahrain game and I am now thinking that Yengi isn't the answer. In the 70 minutes he was on he only had one good pass, and was poor at controlling the ball. He won't get any space tonight, so maybe go with Borello up top and bring Duke on later.

Not a bad look Mr C but we're in the lap of the Poppa :)
I bet he is going to provide us some jaw dropping moments of a starting line up haha !
Thank christ the wife invited a couple of friends over for pre game dinna, one a football mate so I'm not alone screaming and kicking away and have a few drinks !

During the China match, about 10 minutes after we had gone down 0-1 my wife starts telling me some story about one of her friends. There is a cross field ball played in defence, maybe by Miller I don't remember, and it is intercepted. One of those passes you can see coming and you know it is going to start a counterattack even before it is played. I throw a cup at the tv and start yelling, calling him a stupid mfer etc, the completely reasonable reaction to our world cup almost ending before it starts. Wtf is my wife thinking trying to have a conversation about her boring friend during a qualifier.

I seem to remember Yengi getting nothing in the way of service in that game.

He is better in the air than Duke, much faster and has tighter close control. A good scoring record in L1 is decent - just back from injury in recent times so hasn't had a proper run in the Championship yet.

That said, I'm disappointed Toure wasn't picked and I'd like to have a look at Iredale.
